I hope to raise awareness and money for the work that they do to help get people active, protect natural lands, strive to ease pain, and find cures for disease. 015-The Coastal Mountains Land Trust 5k and 5 Miler
27/08/2018 Duración: 37minJoin me as I tackle 5 miles on the newly open rail trail in Belfast, Maine. This scenic flat gravel trail follows the passagassawakeag river, crosses wooden bridges and ends at the historic Belfast Railroad Depot. The day started out cold and overcast, but by race time the sun was out in full effect and the temperatures soared in the sunshine of the trail. I meet a family of trail runners, a 1/2 Ironman triathlete completing the last shakedown run before competing in Maryland the following weekend, an ultra-marathoner bound for Leadville, Colorado, a blast from my sea kayak guiding past, and folks from the Coastal Mountains Land Trust. It was a really great day for a run on a great new trail that benefited the Coastal Mountains Land Trust, an organization that preserves and protects some of my most favorite spots here in the Mid-Coast Maine area. In the backcountry, with a potential medical emergency on our hands, this kind of communication allowed us to make a better and more informed decision to evacuate.
