  • Uncomfortable Situations - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1478

    10/02/2025 Duración: 07min

Saw a great reminder and once again, it came right when I needed to see it too.  Found this from The Winning Difference (@thewinningdiff1) and it was a quick clip of South Carolina Women’s Basketball Coach, Dawn Staley where she said this: “Being uncomfortable and learning the processes of being uncomfortable and knowing that on the other side of an uncomfortable situation is growth.”  It is a reminder to all of us to  “Embrace the discomfort. It’s where you grow, where you separate yourself. The ones who push through it? They’re the ones who win.”  There are so many moments in life where this happens to all of us and this is a great reminder to simply keep on going through the uncomfortableness to get it out of the way, and to pick up the lessons that we need to learn.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/c

  • Happy People List - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 2-7-25 #1477

    07/02/2025 Duración: 07min

I found a list of seven items that people have that helps make them connected to happiness and joy!  This came from Essential Mastery (@EssentialMastry) and the opening connecting words about the list is “real”. I think it is totally real.  Happy People are all about: don’t show off, talk less, learn daily, help others, laugh more, ignore BS and live longer! A very simple road map for a good life. It’s also amazing to see so many doing the opposite of what is on this list. It’s a good plan of action to go after doing these items each and every day of our lives. Go ahead and try these out for size. I know I will be focusing on these for sure.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach

  • Let Them Talk - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thur. 2-6-25 #1476

    06/02/2025 Duración: 07min

I recently saw a post that fits in with so many people that have to choose to let others “flap their gums.”

  • Wisdom & Time - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 2-5-25 #1475

    05/02/2025 Duración: 10min

I was listening to another amazing podcast from Mitch Albom and his friend / producer, Lisa Goich and it was all about wisdom. A great episode to check out, listen to it HERE.  It gave me so many ideas that I wanted to share just a few with you in this episode. One for sure that it reminds me to be a constant student!!  Lifelong learning is the way to go for sure. It reminded me about a story I shared with some students today from Michael Jordan being “aggressive to learn.” He was bringing up the importance of being coachable and wanting to learn, listen and be humble in learning and working hard. Great advice for life, not just sports.   Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach Joh

  • Be Coachable - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Tue. 2-4-25 #1474

    04/02/2025 Duración: 07min

I found a post from Ball is Psych (@BallisPsych) that is so true for all of us, not just athletes. The story is connected to Michael Jordan, one of the best basketball players ever to play the game.  It starts out with the thought that “ the easier you are to lead, the further you will go.”  We all need to realize that if we are open to improving, we can go places. That improvement can come from a few different sources. Outside coaching is something that sure does help in all areas of life. We can only go so far if we are always thinking that we know everything. Being humble, learning to listen, and being open to learning, that all helps us to go farther. It’s best said at the end of this story - “To go far, be easy to lead. Don’t just tolerate coaching, welcome it, embrace it, and be grateful for the opportunity to grow.” I know I need it in so many areas and I am open to getting better for sure. Hope you are too.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, a

  • Two Things To Remember - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Mon. 2-3-25 #1473

    03/02/2025 Duración: 05min

This caught my eye simply because of its simple truth and the fact I’ve been connecting to this idea that we as humans have thousands and thousands of thoughts every single day.  Power of Positivity (@LIVEpositivity) put this out:   “Two things to remember in life: Take care of your thoughts when you are alone, and take care of your words when you are with people.”  I’m really working hard - intentionally focusing on my thoughts and how they affect me throughout my day.  I’ve tried to always watch my words when I’m with others, but not so much my thoughts when I’m alone.  Thanks to some recent reading and this quote, along with some other things I’m noticing and connecting with in life - I am grateful for taking a bit more control over my thoughts.  I hope you can pick this up as well. Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www

  • Life Will Never Wait - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1472

    03/02/2025 Duración: 06min

I found something that really connected with me as I’ve been learning about the struggles of so many people, some that I know personally & it reminded me that none of us are alone when it comes to dealing with challenges.  This was from Mind Essentials (@Mind_Essentials)  where they shared this quote:  “Life will never wait for you to be okay. Get up, carry your burden and keep going.” Another thing that got me thinking about this was (and I think about this often), the struggles that my ancestors had to go through in order for me to be here. It’s inspiring really when I take it all in - how can it not be. It’s the only choice for me - to keep battling and trying to do my best. Hope you find peace with this too.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosucce

  • Learn About People - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 1-31-25 #1471

    31/01/2025 Duración: 06min

Found a great list we all can connect to from Seek Wiser (@SeekWiser_) where it’s all about being able to “learn a lot about people from what they lack.” These things are so true about not only what we can learn from others, but also what we can try and learn about ourselves. These areas are so valuable: accountability, communication skills, emotional intelligence, self-awareness, honesty, having boundaries, and integrity. So much to pick up on when we have our eyes and ears open a bit - again, especially when looking in the mirror.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoe

  • Take Care Of The Root - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thur. 1-30-25 #1470

    30/01/2025 Duración: 07min

Found another deep reflective post, this one from Power of Positivity (@LIVEpositivity) where they shared this thought and it’s not just advice for trees.  “Heal the root so the tree is stable.” We are the tree and we need to take care of our foundation so that our branches (and even any “fruit” we produce) which are the things we do and the people we connect with, can be their very best, all throughout our lives!  Another positive reminder for me to keep working on things I know I need to do. Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with

  • Show This Strength - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 1-29-25 #1469

    29/01/2025 Duración: 05min

I found a reminder that probably needs to get out there a bit more, for a few different reasons. This comes from Mind Essentials (@Mind_Essentials) reminds us that “Strong people don’t put others down … They lift them up.” Sad to say there are way too many examples all around us of people, many so called “leaders” that do the total opposite of this and think they are successful.  It’s up to us to set the correct example in living our lives on a daily basis for sure. One key about this is how we treat ourselves too. So much for me to work on as usual and I’m glad to try and keep getting better. Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@g

  • Carve Out Some Time - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Tues. 1-28-25 #1468

    28/01/2025 Duración: 08min

Another reminder post from Mark Hickie (@MPHickie) where he shares this: “A message for today … Simplify your life! It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos of life, but taking time for self-care really makes a difference. Carving out time for self-care helps recharge our mental & physical energy.” The post is all about this quote from Quotes Cafe - “Go offline, focus on yourself, treat yourself, exercise, go into nature, watch the birds in the sky, drink water, pray, laugh until you cry, cry until you laugh again, dress how you want, and set your boundaries. Be free.” So many outstanding reminders here for me to focus on, especially the going offline part a bit more. Yep, I need that. I think so many of us do. So many things we can do to better ourselves. Connecting to the previous episode, these are habits I need to do more of for sure as a part of my own system of living. How about you?  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rati

  • Goals vs. Systems - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Mon. 1-27-25 #1467

    27/01/2025 Duración: 06min

Found another great post from Reads with Ravi (@readswithravi), where this was shared: “Goals are for people who care about winning once. Systems are for people who care about winning repeatedly.” - James Clear is the one who shared that gem of a thought.  The system we all need to create (and we do it whether we know it or not), is with our habits. The things we do every day in our lives. The choices we make, make us! Having one goal here or there is not a bad thing. But to really change things in our lives, it’s the system we create for ourselves - that’s the key for sure!! I know I need to keep focusing on creating my best system for my life and you can do the same for your life.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachj

  • Take These On Everyday - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1466

    27/01/2025 Duración: 08min

Found an important reminder for me and others on a few things to take on every day. I found this from Jon Beck (@CoachJonBeck) and he shares this: “4 diseases we must fight every day: Negativity, Mediocrity, Comfort and Entitlement. Stay positive, commit to excellence & never be outworked. Surround yourself w/ people who make you happy, laugh, recharge your energy & give you a sense of peace. Then you can take on those who don’t!” I’ve been finding that I need to “intentionally choose” to focus in on things like these and make sure I zero in on my choices a little bit better every day.  It’s work of course, but what’s the alternative? To choose to be negative, mediocre, stay comfortable and to have an attitude of gimme, gimme, gimme?? The choice is simple, but maybe not easy to do every day. Again, things worthwhile are not supposed to be easy, but they are worth it. • Absence of Pressure - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 1-24-25 #1465

    24/01/2025 Duración: 04min

Found a great thought from one of the great basketball coaches. It’s shared by Coach Mac (@BballCoachMac) and the quote he’s sharing is:  “With the absence of pressure, it's hard to do great things” - Geno Auriemma.  Once again we see that basketball is a great mirror of life. Great things are not supposed to be hard. They are not supposed to be easy. So as we all go through our ups and downs in life - and that will always be the case as I was reminded about this week, going through some health issues, I needed this reminder for sure. I’m looking at these challenges as a refocusing point. Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@g

  • The Reality Is - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thur. 1-23-25 #1464

    23/01/2025 Duración: 04min

Found a simple, yet powerful truth for all of us to remember.  This comes from Power of Positivity (@LIVEpositivity), where we are reminded that we all have problems and none of us are super easy to be with all the time. But, if we find someone that is committed to you and wants to grow with you, despite not being easy to be with, that is something to celebrate and invest in.  Remember, do that for others too. For me, it’s my wife for sure - we put up with some things from each other (her more than me), but that is one of so many great things we have with the history we have together. I hope you have that too or that you are at least seeking that in your life too. • Your Culture - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 1-22-25 #1463

    22/01/2025 Duración: 04min

As I’m still taking on this bug I have, I saw this post that got me thinking a bit about how each of us has a “culture”.  I found this from Hoop Herald (@TheHoopHerald) where this quote was shared: “Culture and doing things the right way should be the focus every day. Your daily habits are what you lean on when things get hard” - Jay Wright.  As we all have things that get difficult throughout life, it really comes down to our own culture and what we have created in our everyday lives - that helps to either get us through the challenges or causes more challenges. My current challenge is getting better, and I’m still trying to make sure I do things the right way - even if they are a bit slower. If we set up those good habits, then it won’t matter what the day is all about, we’ll just keep doing the right thing. It’s a good way to get through easy days and hard ones too.   Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts an

    21/01/2025 Duración: 02min

  • We All Have These Days - Monday Combo - #1461

    20/01/2025 Duración: 02min

Found a great reminder for me and all of us from Allistair McCaw (@AllistairMcCaw) and he brings up the fact that no matter what kind of day we have (some of these are all at once too), the mindset of a champion is to just keep going. Doesn’t have to be at the same speed as we normally might do, but just don’t quit!!  I’m under the weather today - that’s why I wanted to just keep going with this “combo” episode. Normally I have two episodes come out on Monday, today… this is it. Hope it still helps you in some way. • Unfair Will Happen - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 1-17-25 #1460

    17/01/2025 Duración: 04min

Found another gem, which I shared with some basketball coaches & players and it comes from another coach!  Greg Berge (@gb1121): “Unfair will happen to you. Adversity will happen to you. Ask yourself… - How will you react? - How will you respond? - Which version of you will show up? Train your mind ahead of time. Your response will define you.” This is a powerful reminder and one that I’ve been trying to work on for a long time.  I do want to show up as my best possible self - not just in the good times, but all the time!! I’m working on training my mind to respond correctly.  It’s the rest of me that I have to train as well. Since we all have adversity and unfair things in our lives - how will we respond? How do we make the best choice as to how we respond?  It’s a skill to practice for sure… always and forever.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.

  • The Price - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thur. 1-16-25 #1459

    16/01/2025 Duración: 11min

Found another gem from one of my All-Star former students, Coach Ray Ostrowski (@CoachRayO3313) where he is not only sharing good information with his students and his players, but also with anyone like us - at any age. Here is his intro to the quote he is sharing: “We all know there is a price to be paid. What far fewer understand is that the price often changes, even daily. You have to condition yourself to be ready to exceed whatever it takes to be successful at any given moment. It takes what it takes.”  Each and every day has different challenges for us in our lives. The standard we set for ourselves should help us to pay whatever the price is day in and day out. Different days have many different things going on for all of us. Even if we get derailed a few days (or longer), we need to get right back to doing what we know we need to do to make things happen in our lives.  Having great people around in my life sure does help me to be able to pay whatever cost I need to pay to do things the right way.  I h
