Discussion With Dr. Jeff Lip on Lessons From Sam Crowley - Podcast #283
29/06/2019 Duración: 31minWOW! What a great day so far today as I got to start it out with the one and only Dr. Jeff Lip. I got the chance to sit down with Jeff this morning to go over a few lessons that I took some notes on from Sam Crowley, when I first met him face to face in June 2017 at his Live Event in Cincinnati, Ohio. There are just a few points from my notes that I get Jeff's thoughts / examples on that really have made a difference with me and I know with his help and with this discussion, they can help you too. For me a major part of this discussion is about momentum and self-confidence. Two of many things that I walked away from Sam's event that summer. So much so that I got Jeff to go with me to Atlanta when Sam had another event later that year. Always make sure you reach out to Jeff at jefflip.com Check out his podcasts, blog postings, the self-assessment he has there to see if he might be a good fit to working with you on any aspects of mental health. This conversation has led to others that

Imagination Is Not Just For Kids - Podcast 282
26/06/2019 Duración: 09minGoing back a little bit - to when we were all kids and Imagination was a big part of our lives. As we get older, we tend to lose it a little bit of it. The key is to keep it alive as it is so important for us to control our thoughts, control our thinking and actually think about things in our future. Listening to Andy Andrews a lot lately and this was one thing he brought up with Bruce Van Horn on his Life Is A Marathon podcast - check it out here: http://www.lifeisamarathon.com/liam-477-andy-andrews-the-bottom-of-the-pool/ The things he brings up are so basic, yet so powerful. This is a wonderful conversation that really gets us thinking about the power of not only controlling our thoughts, but also the importance / necessity to think about things we want to have happen in our lives. Sit back and enjoy this short conversation that I had with myself. Thanks for listening. Lessons From A Children's Choir & Andy Andrews - Podcast #280
20/06/2019 Duración: 10minAmazing couple of things I found - all in the last day or two. First of all - there was this fantastic post I saw this morning on a children's choir from Detroit that was on America's Got Talent last night. This is a MUST SEE clip: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2019/06/19/americas-got-talent-detroit-youth-choir-golden-buzzer-terry-crews/1493621001/?fbclid=IwAR14lxG_lUId5paLldYMNWHzSUIDepbuWb7EKRgJDUCha4439F6qZBIofq8 Mr. White is the Choir Director and what a difference he has made with these kids. Amazing story with tremendous lessons in it. Please check that out. Also, 2 podcasts that are both favorites of mine that interviewed the same person. Andy Andrews is an amazing man with such a heart-felt for helping others. First I listened to John O'Leary's podcast with him - check out here: http://johnolearyinspires.com/2019/06/monday-moments-159/ and then he was also on Brian Buffini's podcast - check that one out here: https://www.thebrianbuffinishow.com/the

Morning Reflections on Purpose - Podcast #279
17/06/2019 Duración: 19minWe recently had our last day of school - for me it was my 30th last day of school. It started with reflection and a cup of coffee. I found myself taking a few extra minutes looking at the countless pictures and magnets on our refrigerator and in doing so, I had some tears going to start my day. You see, the pictures are from family & a few friends throughout the years. The Magnets? They are from so many of the places during our married life that we have been blessed enough to visit. Obviously or whole fridge is covered and that's just how we like it. As I was heading in for my last day of school for my 30th year, it hit me. How blessed I am to be doing what I'm doing for a living along with even more so, how blessed I am to be part of all of those pictures and magnets. I also found this article, from Success Magazine of course - love the title, love the content of these stories. This article was all about finding your purpose in the world. Interview with The One and Only - Gillian Moss - Podcast #277
12/06/2019 Duración: 36minFinally got to sit down with a very good friend of mine an even greater teacher - Mrs. Gillian Moss. This conversation has been in the discussion phases for weeks and I'm so happy to have found some time here during our last few days of school. This hopefully will not be the only time that we get a chance to sit down and have a chat. Her story is a special one that has led her to this profession of being a teacher - and it fits her perfectly. Sit back and enjoy this very special interview. Lots of shout outs too in this one. Stories Are So Important - Thanks To Dr. Jeff Lip - Podcast #276
10/06/2019 Duración: 10min2 for Monday - Amazing way to start off my week today - listening to Dr. Jeff Lip's latest podcast - a must listen to - check it out here: http://jefflip.com/podcast/ It's episode #114. He interviews Melvina Ford and they have a powerful discussion on suicide prevention. Since Dr. Lip has focused more in on the stigma of mental health, he's been producing gold hit after gold hit! 07/06/2019 Duración: 15minI've always heard this and I totally agree with it - We are the sum of the people we hang out with and the books we read. I ws listening to a couple of podcasts today - one from Dr. Jeff Lip - http://jefflip.com/2019/06/03/monday-6-3-19-podcast-113-a-mental-health-bipolar-disorder-and-relationship-discussion-with-mr-cameron-and-mrs-brittany-navetta/ and one from Scott Smith - "The Daily Boost" podcast: https://www.podbean.com/ew/dir-tzjy2-645d56e These 2 episodes got me thinking about today's topic. Little Things Lead To Big Changes -Podcst #272
02/06/2019 Duración: 08minThere were a lot little things that came to mind over the last day or two for this show. Little things happen all the time. It's how we react to them or the way we choose to take them in, that matter. Big changes can come our way when little changes are made. The key is that we are the only ones that can make those little changes that can truly affect us. Those items that we allow to help us turn the little things into big things, make all the difference. Podcasts, books, videos, other people, in other words there are so many little things that can make all the difference in the world. Thanks for listening. 30/05/2019 Duración: 10minNeed to wake up and get going this morning and to do that, I will typically listen to Sam Crowley. He put out a recent podcast that really got me thinking about a few things dealing with my self-confidence and regrets in life. Conversation With Dr. Joe DiPonio - Podcast #269
25/05/2019 Duración: 40minWhat a great way to start my day with the one and only - Dr. Joe DiPonio (on Twitter: @DrDiPonio). Joe is our former principal here at Lake Shore and now our current Superintendent with our district. We've been talking about this meeting for a while now and we finally pulled it off and all it cost me was a Tim Horton's coffee for our guest. Pulled that off easy!! This conversation was a great start to my day and I'm glad he was able to come in and share some stories about his background growing up and as an educator. There are so many lessons here, it was easy to see that the educator in him will always be a part of what he is about. He was dishing out knowledge bombs this morning that you might hear them in the background of this recording. Now, some might say it was thunder... But I really think it was the success principles that he was throwing out left and right that made all that noise. Sit back and enjoy this fun and at times emotional conversation that he and I had together. H

Lessons From My Leadership Course - Podcast #266
16/05/2019 Duración: 20minThere are always so many lessons from my Principles of Leadership course that I get to be reminded about or learn new ones, that I just had to share a few today. I love how these lessons offer a table of learning for my students but also for me as their teacher. This show has a few of the lessons that I used with a few questions for my recent guest speakers. Two of the main lessons were from Dr. Randy Pausch and his "Last Lecture." Check it out here (and look for other things about it - especially the book): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo Another one of the major cornerstones of my course is from Mitch Albom and the story of "Tuesday's With Morrie".
