    08/07/2020 Duración: 44min

Once again I wanted to share with you one of the outstanding interviews that I was able to pull off with this special guest for my Principles of Leadership class with my seniors during the Spring Term this past school year.  Coach Rich Popp was able to stop by and I was so glad to catch up with him so that he could share with the countless leadership lessons that were not only there to help my seniors, but anyone who wants to listen.  I hope you are part of the group that wants to listen and pick up some lessons just like my students got the chance to.  This man was born to be an educator and a coach.  He's a difference-maker for young people and the world needs more people like him.  You can reach out to Coach Popp at:  rpopp@lsps.org and also find him on Twitter:  @Coach4254    On a side note - he does some outstanding work for football players of all ages in training and coaching.  Reach out to him if you want more information.   Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & shar

  • Motivation Monday Game Plan - I Don't Know What I Don't Know - Podcast #422

    06/07/2020 Duración: 06min

I think this reading more books is tending to agree with me as I am more fired up now than ever before and reading has been a big part of it.  My current read is "Mean People Suck" by Michael Brenner and it's another good one.  No big surprise as I heard about this book on John O'Leary's Podcast - http://johnolearyinspires.com/2019/12/michael-brenner-208/   This whole simple idea that we don't know everything & there are tons of people that think they do know everything.  There are a couple of advantages for those of us that realize that isn't true.  It's a great way to get our week started with this important reminder.   Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  You can also hea

  • Dr. Joe DiPonio - Spring Leadership Interview

    04/07/2020 Duración: 56min

This is a special treat as I took my interview with our Superintendent, Dr. Joe DiPonio for my Principles of Leadership class 3 months ago and put it together to share with you.  The lessons are priceless for the class of 2020 and for all of us too.  These lessons can be applied to your life right now, no matter what you are doing.  It's a powerful testimony as to the kind of leader Joe is and where he shows his heart to be - and that's helping kids get a great start in life and to carry the lessons they learn from us onto adulthood.   Dr. DiPonio can be contacted at:  jdiponio@lsps.org and on Twitter:  @DrDiPonio   Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsu

  • Always Look To Stay Up - Podcast #420

    02/07/2020 Duración: 09min

Had another fantastic reminder about not only the person I want to be but also who I don't want to be. This reminder was not so gentle either & I deserved every bit of humble pie that I had to swallow.  Best one to teach these lessons to me of course is my wife.  The one that is correct so many times more than she's not.  The scoreboard went up for her "victory total" with this story.   We were up in one of most favorite spots in the world - Traverse City, Mi.  We were blessed enough to go up there last week and stay at her parents' condo that they own there for 2 quick nights.  Before I share the lessons I learned, a little backstory.  We have been going up there together for almost 30 years - 18 or so as a family with our kids, her siblings and their families, and her parents.  Family dinners, golf outings with my brother-in-law Jim, poker games with the guys, swimming, eating out, Pirates Cove mini golf & water rides, all the great stuff that summers are made of.   As the k

  • Motivation Monday Game Plan - Clarity In Our Future - Podcast #419

    29/06/2020 Duración: 03min

This podcast was out awhile ago but not only did it get me thinking back when I heard it, I also got some great input when I read about it in John O'Leary's book - "In Awe".   (this is one I will keep reminding you to go out and get).  It's one key question that Fr. Tom Hoar mentions that gets us thinking about making a change - "Have You Had Enough?"   Check out this awesome podcast HERE.  Now Fr. Tom helps others with their addictions, so asking that question with that in mind is powerful enough.  But, we can still ask this question for anything in our lives we want to change.  I know there is plenty of things that I need to change because I am tired of them in my life.  How about you?   Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter:  @coachtosucc

  • No Reserves, No Retreat, No Regrets - Podcast #418

    26/06/2020 Duración: 05min

Here it is in writing - Get John O'Leary's book, "In Awe" as it's another life changer, just like his first book "On Fire" was.  You have heard me say it and now it's in written in words too to remind you. ;-)   This story is about William Borden and these 3 life-changing mindsets of his.  These are powerful.   No Reserves - not leaving anything in the "tank" of our lives.  No Retreat - not backing down from tough things we have to do just to settle for an easier life.  No Regrets - this one probably is one that I've been focusing in on more and more as it seems my life (and all of our lives) is really just speeding by.  These are some powerful thoughts that John O'Leary shares in his book that I'm putting my own thoughts & ideas to them.  I hope it helps to get you thinking about these 3 too.    Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITune

  • Keep Track Of Your Marbles - Podcast #417

    24/06/2020 Duración: 08min

Found another quick story from John Maxwell where he shared a great story about a guy who counted out his marbles of life.   He related to each marble representing one Saturday of our lives with the average life being at 75 years.   With that math, I have a little over 1000 Saturdays left at my current age.  It reminds us to not put things off.  It reminds us to quit doing things that we know are a waste of time.  It hopefully reminds us to always look to get better for our marbles will indeed run out someday.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things

  • Motivation Monday Game Plan - Time To Wake Up! - Podcast #416

    22/06/2020 Duración: 06min

Got out of the old comfort zone today - I recorded this podcast along with a Facebook Live video a few days ahead of time.  I found something from John O'Leary's book "In Awe" that I really wanted to share with you.  It was Ch. 28 on Showing Up!  He talked about waking up - getting out of our own way and stop being fearful about doing things we know we have to do.  This hit home with me and I hope it does with you too.  We tend to be our own worst enemy and we hold ourselves back throughout most of our lives.   I hope this gives you something to think about and we all need to wake up to fixing our own mindsets.  Have a great week!   Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  You can also head on over to

  • Incredible Story - Part 2 With the Ruekerts, Ashley & Dave - Podcast #415

    20/06/2020 Duración: 01h01min

The story continues with part 2 with Ashley and Dave Ruekert as they take us on a journey with the ups and downs of their journey with their young daughter in the hospital.  I hope you got a chance to listen to part 1 as it will make a whole more sense getting that one under your belt first.  See show #412.  I actually toyed with making this into parts 2 and 3, but in my heart I just knew I wanted to keep the conversation going for this show and split it up.  It's a little longer, but hey - you can break it up a few different times if you need to.  This is a powerful part 2 as I love the discussions about the importance of listening to your gut.   To be your own advocate and especially to step up and speak up for those that do not have their own voice.   The amazing lessons of people's kindness and compassion, coming from so many different people - many that didn't even know them.   It's really an important lesson for all of us to take with us, especially in today's times.  We all can

  • He's Back - Shawn Szydlowski Shares Some Leadership Lessons - #414

    18/06/2020 Duración: 47min

Well, I knew had to have this star pro hockey player back on.  After all is still the #1 ranked podcast episode from all my shows.   Shame on me for waiting so long to have him back on.  He was on show #183 from back in July of 2018.  Shawn shares so many lessons for his different directions his hockey career has taken him.  All these lessons can be connected to all of our lives, whether we play hockey or not.   This guy is a natural born leader and when you tie those skills in with a passion for something in life - in his case hockey, it's a winning recipe for life!  He's got so many valuable lessons he shares with us today and I love the love he shows for hockey.  It's infectious to help us find those things in life that we are fired up over & to go after them for like Shawn says, he doesn't want to live with regrets.   You can connect with Shawn on both Twitter & Instagram: @szydlowski19    Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someo

  • Motivation Monday Game Plan - We Long To Be Seen - Podcast #413

    15/06/2020 Duración: 09min

Getting some great reading done lately from John O'Leary's book - "In Awe" and I wanted to share just a bit of motivation from it that I just ran across.   John was sharing a story about meeting Augie Nieto, a man with ALS and the lessons he taught John.  A long time for Augie to tell John, "I don't want to be ignored."  It is time for all of us to ask questions to each other and not shy away when we see someone different.    It's also time to stop hiding who we are and realize WE ALL long to be seen!   Great stuff to work on this week my friends.  Keep getting better.  Keep putting the work in, it will pay off!    Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  You can also head on over t

  • Incredible Story With Ashley & Dave Ruekert, Part 1 - Podcast #412

    13/06/2020 Duración: 43min

What a very special treat today where I got to sit down with Coach Dave Ruekert and his superstar wife Ashley.  They have a tremendous story to share with us and I know this will not be the only time we visit with them so they can share this incredible journey full of so many valuable lessons.  This was the most emotional show that I’ve ever done, and I felt so connected with them in this conversation of what they went through with this incredible story of what they went through with their daughter.  This show will offer all of us hope, inspiration, the depths of emotions, the true human experience between parents and a child and the value that we all have with the connections that we have with each other.   There will be more of this amazing story in future shows and I can’t wait to keep this conversation going.  The importance of family and friends that come out of this first part is key.  I loved how Ashley brought up the fact of the way she grew up with her extended family and the amazing lessons she lear

  • Fun At The Orthodontist - Podcast #411

    11/06/2020 Duración: 13min

Fun times at the Orthodontist!  It was great to get out for a normal type of appointment and I actually found some fun moments from what would normally be something that most people want to avoid.  Most of us know that sound of a drill at a dentist office and there a not many people that can say they like it - I don't care for it at all, but I've been down that road too many times in the 44 years or so I've been dealing with my severe dental issues.  So, between getting out for a regular type appointment & having walked down that path many times before, I found a certain type of comfort with getting my life going again after all that we have had to do.   It also got me thinking about how much I appreciate people & how much I missed seeing and talking with people too.  The day before this happened, I got to go back to school where I had to clean up my classroom a little bit for the end of the year.  Emotional to say the least.  I missed that school.  The kids in it along with the great s

  • Motivation Monday Game Plan - Your Greatest Asset = A Great Attitude - Podcast #410

    08/06/2020 Duración: 06min

Got up this morning, got a few things set for our final week of our classes online & I found this passage from John Maxwell that I had to share with you to start the week off right.  "A Great Attitude is your Greatest Asset" was the title of the thoughts for today and I found it as a great quick read on a Monday.   He mentions from Dennis Waitley in the "Winners Edge", that the difference maker is all in the attitude of someone, not the aptitude.   I love this statement "I cannot always choose what happens to me, but I can always choose what happens in me.  Some things in life are beyond my control.  Some things are within it.  My attitude in the areas beyond my control CAN be the difference maker.   My attitude in the areas that I do control WILL be the difference maker."   Starting off today, I need to remind myself about this - heck, every day I need to remind myself about it.   As I recorded this today I was thinking how soon I would need this reminder.   I hope I remembe

  • A BIG Mismatch & What We Can Do About It - Podcast #409

    06/06/2020 Duración: 08min

I found so many fantastic thoughts and ideas from the book "Raise Your Game" by Alan Stein Jr.  One I had to share with you is what he talked about being a mismatch and you know what?  I totally agree with him on this one.  He mentions the power of negativity over positivity and that we must come up with basically 5 times as many positive moments, interactions, experiences, etc., to overcome each negative one.   I brough up a recent podcast too from John O'Leary - so recent in that it just came out today June 4, 2020.  Find it HERE.    Some powerful connections about the power of love and how that overcomes negativity for sure.   So go out and grab the book by Alan Stein, Jr. and make sure you are listening to John O'Leary's podcasts and reading his books too, "On Fire" was his first best seller and "In Awe" is his 2nd book that just came out and it's already selling in HUGE numbers.    By the way.. have I told you lately that I appreciate you??  Well I do.  I

  • Build Trust - Something We All Need To Do - Podcast #408

    04/06/2020 Duración: 09min

Starting out my day with a few thoughts from John Maxwell is always a good start to any of my days.  Building Trust is probably the biggest thing in a relationship, and we are all in need of some of that now for sure.  There are so many things that we all need to do in building this with people & it really starts by us working on ourselves.  You know, one of the most difficult people you will ever have to face is the person in the mirror in front of you.  Trust implies accountability, predictability, and reliability.   We need to work on these things - all of us.  Everything that has been going on in the last week and a half or so - it is dependent on each of us to take these lessons and apply them to our lives.   I'd love to hear how you plan on doing this or what ideas you have to make things better in your life & thereby making things better in the lives of those that are connected to you.   Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave

  • Motivation Monday Game Plan - The Value of Listening - Podcast #407

    01/06/2020 Duración: 07min

Amazing and powerful topic that came to me in my readings from John Maxwell on the important value of Listening.   In today's world with everything happening with the pandemic along with protests all over the place about the tragic death of George Floyd, this topic is something that can help so much in the scary times we are in.  The value of listening and its connections to relationships is something we really need to connect with and look to improve upon.  This topic can help us all out in so many ways.

  • We ALL Have To Change To Make Things Better - NOW! Podcast #406

    28/05/2020 Duración: 11min

Woke up today my friends feeling a bit down, sad, angry; heck I felt like that last night too... in fact many days lately.   To watch & see what is happening in our country today, the world too - and it's nothing new, it's the horrible things that people do to each other throughout history; it's just sucking the life out of all of us!   I woke up this morning to see the news on a burning building, rioting & looting in Minneapolis, Minnesota over George Floyd's death at the hands of police.   All of this should make US ALL feel sad, angry, upset, even hopeless a little bit too as to what is going to happen to all of us.  Part of the hope that I'm looking for comes from me doing something and becoming a better person to help others and it also comes from my faith in God.   Folks, my show, my opinion.... humans haven't gotten things right over our entire history.   Now, we have done plenty of good things - but we sure have messed up a lot too.  If we are so conceited and thi

  • Motivation Monday Game Plan - Don't Just "Get By." Podcast #405

    25/05/2020 Duración: 07min

Saw a great thought from Napoleon Hill - "The individual who only does enough work to get by seldom gets much more than "by."   What a great reminder about effort.  Life is really about what you put into it; you generally get out of it. It is a reminder also that our harshest critic and our toughest competitor should be ourselves.    This was a great reflection for me on a day of bigger reflection and celebration.  My wife and I celebrate our 30th Anniversary today - we watched our wedding video last night and talk about a lot of reflections... it also reminded me why I want to continue to work hard, for my wife and family.   We have a lot of history here and I need to keep putting some time & effort into this life we have built.  That will never stop for me.  I hope it does not for you and your life & loved ones too.    Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services w

  • Conversation with Coach Ruekert - The Power of Love Over Fear - Podcast #404

    21/05/2020 Duración: 37min

Another fabulous start to my day and hopefully to yours too - whenever you listen to the great conversation I had with Coach Dave Ruekert.  We finish our discussion with the Coffee Bean book and Coach brings up some powerful thoughts from the journey he and his family are on with their daughter.  He shares why Love always seems to win over fear.  There is a lot of fear now in the world and this is a great reminder that we will get through these times, if we focus in on the love that is around us and inside of us.  This was a very powerful conversation that I know will make a difference with you and anyone you share this with.    Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpec
