  • Sunday Conversation With Coach Daly, Coach Dave & Coach Ryan - Longtime Battles With Mental Health - 12-1-24

    02/12/2024 Duración: 01h08min

Sat down with a couple of wonderful guys that have a lot to share and to more importantly help others.  Coach Dave Ruekert is someone that you know through my show for sure. He’s got a longtime good friend in Coach Ryan Mills and Ryan reached out to Dave a while back, wanting some way of telling his story in order to help others.  Ryan has many things he is dealing with and he wants to share some insights, thoughts and ideas as to how we can handle the things we have going on in our lives. Now, remember, this in no way is meant to be professional help.  In fact, Ryan and Dave remind us all that we need to reach out to professionals if we find ourselves needing help with our mental health for sure.  A couple of things I was reminded about in our talk - everyone has battles that we are fighting with and dealing with AND there are good people out there that want to help.  Understanding others is key, all throughout life and since life is all about relationships, listening to stories that Ryan shares can help us

  • Walking With Enthusiasm - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 11-29-24 #1418

    29/11/2024 Duración: 05min

History teaches some wonderful lessons, if you are willing to pay attention. This one comes from Wisdom (@Wisdom_HQ) and they are connecting with a big-time historical figure, Winston Churchill who said “Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”  Since we all stumble, fall, fail, get distracted, etc., having an attitude of enthusiasm to get through life with, it will pay off for sure.  I love this reminder and I need to keep looking to be fired up about figuring things out, learning new things, overcoming failures, realizing that our attitude does make a difference. I need to remember, I can have enthusiasm about all things in my life, I might as well choose to get through the tough times as best I can with a decently positive attitude.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coach

  • Gratitude For A "Normal" Day - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thurs. 11-28-24 #1417

    28/11/2024 Duración: 07min

Found a great connection to Thanksgiving here from Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) and it really got me thinking about how grateful I should be each and every day!  Here was my intro to the post I shared on Twitter / X: “Powerful reminder … even when I’m thinking / feeling that I’m having a “horrible” day… there are so many people throughout the world that would be smiling and consider that same day as a great day or their best day!”  The actual post was this: “Your “normal” day is someone’s dream, so be thankful everyday!”  I forget many times that even my worst days, that would still be someone’s dream day!! How so many people in this world would do anything to have one of our “bad” days.   This day of gratitude (and it’s been said all the time) should not be celebrated just on one day.  This is something for me to work on for sure.  I know this helped me in a bigtime way. I hope it does the same for you.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave

  • Trouble Moving Forward - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 11-27-24 #1416

    27/11/2024 Duración: 05min

Found another great reminder from a longtime connection that I have had to finding successful clues.  Alan Stein, Jr. (@AlanSteinJr) brings up this very important point that we all can use in life.  “Blaming, complaining, and making excuses will never move you forward or make your situation better.” There have been times in my life where I thought that one of these 3 (usually all 3 together) would make me feel better, help me in some way, etc. But I usually found out later that it caused me more trouble for sure.  I think we all know plenty of people that blame, complain and make excuses all of the time! Those people I usually separate myself from in some way, since I don’t want their behavior and choices, having an effect on me. I make enough trouble for myself that I certainly don’t need others doing it for me. • Sun & Rain - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Tues. 11-26-24 #1415

    26/11/2024 Duración: 06min

Saw a smart little reminder from Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) where they shared this powerful reminder - “Accept both compliments and criticism. It takes both sun and rain for a flower to grow.”  That’s something that not only life throws at us - both the sun and rain, but we also do it to ourselves. I think we need to make a conscious choice to watch how we do this with ourselves but also, who do we have around us filling our heads & hearts with things that might lean us towards one way more than another.  I’m working on complimenting myself more than putting myself down.  Not always successful with this battle, but I’m getting better. Hope you are too.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube C

  • No Mud Pits - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Mon. 11-25-24 #1414

    25/11/2024 Duración: 06min

Found some great advice that has been echoed so many times from Gary Vee (@garyvee) but it’s connected this time to: Power of Positivity (@LIVEpositivity) “Never wish them pain; that’s not who you are. If they caused you pain, wish them healing.” There seems to be “mud” being thrown all over the place these days. Bad-mouthing others, blaming others, gossiping about others, putting out false information about others, etc. I’ve been focusing on not getting caught up in things like this. I have been finding that there is truth to the statement, “where focus goes - energy flows!”  For me, I have too many things to accomplish, build, go after along with helping those I love to do great things living their lives; and I don’t have time to go after people to cause them troubles and problems.  Life is way too short for sure.  This is really a no-brainer for me. Hope it is for you too.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podca

  • Your Finish Line - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1413

    25/11/2024 Duración: 09min

Going a little deep emotionally on this post as I found one that really has connected to some other things that I have found lately.  This one comes from Kylie Riordan (@mindfulheal) where she shares a quote from Terri St. Cloud and here it is: “And if, when it is all over, I’m asked what I did with my life, I want to be able to say “I offered Love!””  WOW!  Since we are getting closer to the end date in life than we were yesterday, I really feel this is a very powerful mindset to have.  Look ahead to how you want your finish line to look! Have the end in mind. Then build your days to connect with that.  John O’Leary has that as one of his “Live Inspired 7”, a set of questions he asks each of his guests from his podcast - one of the questions is: “It’s been said that all great people can have their lives summed up in one sentence. How do you want yours to read?”  First of all, I love looking at myself as being a great enough person so that I can have that shot of having my life viewed like that. Again, one se

  • This Roadblock Is Draining - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 11-22-24 #1412

    22/11/2024 Duración: 05min

Found another item to get me reflecting on being my best. I’ve come to find that I not only look forward to working hard on being my best, but also I know I need to.  A couple of great coaches shared this one.  Coach AJ Mental Fitness (@coachajkings) shared this post with some thoughts from Coach Jay Wright where he shared this gem:  “The greatest characteristic you can have as a human being is a great attitude. It’s a choice you have every day.”  Coach AJ reminds us that it's a choice on perspective, not circumstance.  A negative attitude is a roadblock. It's draining.  Not sure if there is something that is not 100% more on target with what can cause ourselves trouble than these thoughts.  Just try and take this on, even for just a few minutes every day and watch the good things to come into your life.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Fin

  • Becoming Your Best - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thur. 11-21-24 #1411

    21/11/2024 Duración: 06min

I think it’s safe to say that we all want to be at our best, I know I want to be my best.  It takes a conscious effort to do that.  Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11) had a great post that got me zeroed in on this. He shared this thought: “No one ever became their best by focusing on someone else’s flaws.  Look for the best in others.” At times I will focus my attention towards others flaws. Blaming them for things, getting upset about it, etc.  I’m learning that it makes much better use of my time and mental well-being to focus on improving my own flaws (which are many) compared to worrying about what others are doing wrong. I think the world (especially our own little part of it), would be a lot better if we took this to heart.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachto

  • Be Aggressive To Learn - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 11-20-24 #1410

    20/11/2024 Duración: 07min

Found a very eye-opening post that hit me - not just because I love basketball, as basketball (sports in general) have nothing to do with this one - but I simply love the term that was used here.  I found this from Ball is Psych (@BallisPsych) “Michael Jordan was once asked what he thought his best skill was. He didn’t say it was his ability to dunk from the free throw line or his scoring ability. His answer: “I was coachable. I was a sponge and aggressive to learn.” The easier you are to lead, the further you’ll go.”  I see it as being about how we can approach the things in our lives that we get fired up over.  I know I need to get more "aggressive" when it comes to my learning of the things that fire me up about my life. How about you?  It really comes down to investing in yourself so you can lead yourself!    Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this sh

  • Pick Wisely - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Tue. 11-19-24 #1409

    19/11/2024 Duración: 07min

Saw this post and it helped me tremendously at the moment I needed to see it. Just kind of got off into a bit of a rut this morning as I ran some errands.  I caught my focus going in directions that were not good for me. Negativity, things that were bringing me down, etc. Sam Crowley says it a lot, where our focus goes - that’s where our energy flows!!  I’m glad I realized I had to stop it.  Having intentional focus (as Ben Newman talks about a lot) came back into focus for me. So, about this post… it came from Christine Bemis (@ChristineBemis2) and she shared a quote from Hans F. Hansen who said:  “People inspire you or drain you - pick them wisely.”  I could see in a little bit of reflection that I was letting my focus go to people and things that I could not control first of all, but I was also letting those things bring me down.  Thankfully, at least for the moment, I remembered about controlling my response to things.  I simply need to keep doing that in a positive way.  How about you? What do you do whe

  • The Real Test Is - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Mon. 11-18-24 #1408

    18/11/2024 Duración: 04min

Found a great & powerful (yet short) post that I think will help anyone who just takes a few moments to listen to it and think about how you can use it more in your life.  I know it will help me tremendously.  This comes from The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) "The real test is being kind to unkind people." This is one of the more difficult things that I know for me, it’s hard to do.  I want to but at times I’m not very good at it and it causes me and the other person(s) a lot of problems. Again, it goes back to the previous podcast about being smart of dumb. Being disciplined or undisciplined. It also shows that I have a heck of alot of work to get done on myself. One thing for sure, it’s never done.  Self Improvement & Personal Development, are things there will always be something to do, each and every day that I am alive!  It will just get harder in the future, from the simple fact that I will be older. Another reason to get working on things sooner than later, while

  • Which Are You? - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1407

    18/11/2024 Duración: 08min

A couple of coaches shared a question that all of us can ask ourselves.  This is posted from my former student and current teacher & head varsity football coach, Coach Ray Ostrowski (@CoachRayO3313) and he asks a question: “Which are you? Disciplined, or undisciplined? - It doesn’t matter how you feel. ‘Feeling good’ is temporary; it comes and goes. The disciplined get it done! Can’t just do what you think it takes. Always push yourself to do whatever it takes.” The other coach that is part of this post is Coach Nick Saban. There is more to this post as only Coach Saban can say it. Remember, this just does not mean it applies only to athletics. This is for all of us and the lives we want to create for ourselves. • Coffee Bean Reminders - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 11-14-24 #1406

    15/11/2024 Duración: 04min

Stumbled across a reminder that I needed and it came from Damon West (@damonwest7) “Don't forget that being a Coffee Bean starts with YOU! Create positivity from the inside out and not the outside in.” This reminder came of course at a time when I needed to hear it and I hope it’s the same for you too. There are a number of good points here for all of us to take in and keep with us for sure. It’s all about the things we can control, letting go of the clutter around us and to keep striving to be our best!  #BeACoffeeBean  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuc

  • Mediocrity vs. Excellence - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Thur. 11-14-24 #1405

    14/11/2024 Duración: 08min

Woke up early this morning as I not only was looking forward to a good cup of coffee to start my day off with, but I was also feeling a little bit worried about things, feeling anxious too.  I’m trying to take those things on with more meditation / prayer, along with “doing something” instead of worrying & feeling anxiety.  So, I was compelled to get up and do some reading and reflecting. Early mornings are always a joy to me to start my day off in a great direction. Picked up my copy of “Arete” - where this book, written by Brian Johnson, helps me to find and activate my heroic potential.  Also, a big shout out to Chris Tessmar who recently sent me a note, thanking me for recommending this book on my show.  Sounds like he picked up a copy and he is making some great connections with the lessons found in it.  This section today from pages 293 & 294, is all about the comparison between Mediocrity vs. Excellence.  A big thing that I found out were all the synonyms for Mediocrity. There are many such as

  • One Year Contract - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Wed. 11-13-24 #1404

    13/11/2024 Duración: 07min

Found a powerful connection to a podcast from Ben Newman.  His podcast called “The Burn” had a guest Mathiew Wilson and they shared some so many amazing lessons that we all can learn from.  This is a must listen to - find it HERE.  It gets me thinking of the things I can do (and need to do) every single day! It’s a reminder that the only one we are competing against, is the person we were yesterday. PLEASE.. listen to the actual podcast from Ben & Mathiew - it’s priceless!!  This little Facebook Live video I did doesn’t really do it justice. I’ve listened to it 3 times already and there will be more for sure. • People's Connections - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Tues. 11-12-24 #1403

    12/11/2024 Duración: 11min

Inside our Mental Toughness Academy with Ben Newman (from the Burn Podcast), I find connections to people every single day.  Recently I found a post that really got me reflecting. It comes from Gerald Brian, one of the many people in this group that I get the pleasure of learning from and getting to know a little bit too. Gerald posted this: “The key to success is not just Information, The Key to success is PEOPLE.  No one can fill purpose in insolation. Every teacher needs students, you can't be a good husband without a wife.  You need people.  Let's connect to network with one another.”  I thanked him for giving me permission to share this post as I really think it’s spot on in today’s information driven world.  In today’s world, information is important more than ever. We’ve seen it in politics, business, families, friends, career areas, etc. There is tons and tons of information out there and not all of it is truthful / correct.  So it takes people to make sure we are connecting with each other

  • Not Impressed - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Mon. 11-11-24 #1402

    11/11/2024 Duración: 08min

Found another great reminder that I think many in the world need to remind themselves of, about what is truly impressive.  The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) gives us a fantastic reminder.   It’s not the money, status, job titles, etc. It really comes down to how we treat others.  There seems to be plenty of examples all over the place of how to NOT treat others. It’s too bad there are so many.  It’s up to us to try and show others the correct way to do this. The world needs us to step up and do this the right way.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coach

  • Grit Formula - Motivation Monday Game Plan - #1401

    11/11/2024 Duración: 05min

When you are looking for good things… they usually show up.  I found another good thing from Jon Gordon (@JonGordon11) and he puts out the intro: “What is Grit? Here’s my formula.” It’s a very easy to understand “formula” that we all can connect with and use in our lives.  There are so many to connect with and for me, a guy that wasn’t great with math or science formulas back in school, this is a formula that I totally can work with.  I hope you can too.  It seems we all need to have a bit more Grit throughout life than ever before. • Great To Understand - Daily Thought With Coach Daly - Fri. 11-8-24 #1400

    08/11/2024 Duración: 05min

Found another super reminder (maybe it’s just for me) that got me reflecting on some recent events and how I react.  Tiny Buddha (@tinybuddha) posts this:  ““Life becomes more peaceful when you truly understand and embody the idea that you can’t keep stressing over what’s beyond your control. Life will happen, and people will do and say what they want. All you can do is focus on what you can change and let the rest be.” - @VexKing.  This is of course much more difficult than simply reading it and doing it without any issues.  I know that I need to keep working on this skill, especially with recent events.  I’m interested to hear how others take this on.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel
