REPLAY: Ep. 25: Cody Tesch-ATC in Fire Service
25/01/2024 Duración: 01h02minLINK: https://youtu.be/5HdPt8LZVic Emerging settings in athletic training continue to evolve and in some cases they have ‘emerged’ (listen to the episode). Cody Tesch is on the front end of one of those settings, fire services. Cody is one of a handful of full-time athletic trainers that are dedicated to the service and care of a city’s fire fighter services and the steps Cody has made and where things are going are set to make an impact. In this episode we talk about what exactly Cody’s role in this type of setting is. We get very deep into how it has taken some effort for Cody to establish himself as a resource for this group and had to fight some long-held beliefs. Cody has had to work to gain the trust of the fire fighters and show them that he is there to help, not hold them out. We also discuss how Cody is advocating for the profession to demonstrate the skills necessary to workman’s compensation cases and beyond. So much to take away from this episode. www.athletictrainingchat.com www.cliniallypr

Ep. 154: Paul Rupp-Social Media & Ethics in Athletic Training
14/12/2023 Duración: 58minPaul Rupp is an athletic trainer who works in the secondary setting and is the chair of the NATA Committe on Professional Ethics. Paul recently wrote an article in the NATA News about the importance of ethics in athletic training but in particular how it applies to social media. If you’ve been around social media you’ve probably seen how some topics tend to get very heated, very quickly and often can turn into something that goes beyond discussion. Paul discusses how the COPE handles these cases and also discusses how often these types of cases come up. The episode contains a ton of insight on what COPE is and how it tries to help keep the profession ethical, in particular the members of the NATA. They put in a lot of work and the cases they deal with range wildly in terms of what they pertain too. It was an enlightening episode for me and I think will shed some great light on what the committee does and their goals to help the profession.
