That has led him to finding a really deep and unique way to look at movement and athletic training. Guido focuses on proprioception, dynamic systems theory and other high level movement concepts when working with his athletes. In this episode we get deep into proprioception. Through all of Andy’s work and involvement he touched the lives of so many. We can only begin to think about all the things Andy has done and the people he has influenced in a positive way throughout his lifetime. Someone who will readily admit they should get a gold medal in sarcasm, Andy was always a treat to be around. You always knew where you stood. It often is the random encounters and exchanges that can yield the best opportunities. Since that time Andrea hasn’t stopped and has continue to build a great program in the industrial setting. We discuss how rewarding this setting can be and how much of a reward Andrea has gotten out of it. While it took time and education to start with the buy-in now that Andrea has it, she isn’t looking back. She has helped continue to increase the athletic training staff within the company she works for and is encouraging other athletic trainers to check the setting out and not judge it before getting a full sense of what it is. Will did his master’s and doctorate work at the University of Connecticut and from there spent time working at the Korey Stringer Institute. Will has done a lot when it comes to the topic of heat and heat related illness, including putting out information on best practices for large events. We discussed how heat illness is 100% survivable if proper steps are taken before, during and after an event. We also discussed best practices and how the athletic trainer plays a substantial role in the planning and management of heat related issues. Corey has worked in multiple settings in his career including both a large and small high school, collegiate athletics and within a sports medicine clinic. We discuss how Corey has adjusted his clinical practice based on the demands of the setting. We dive into how he managed to triage hundreds of athletes in the high school setting while trying to maximize rehab in that setting.
