In 1 Corinthians 11, Paul gives a teaching that some people interpret to mean "man is the boss of woman, and as a result, ladies should wear a head covering to demonstrate their submission to men." And interestingly, their ministries often seem to be in direct conflict with a universal understanding of 1 Corinthians 14 and 1 Timothy 2. In the second part of this week's discussion, we tell the stories of Phoebe (called a deacon of the church in Cenchrea) and Junia, called an "outstanding apostle" by Paul in Romans 16. Additionally, we examine the questions they raise regarding female leadership and ministry in the 21st century.
