SAVING ‘MONA’[col. writ. 9/2/18 © ’18 Mumia Abu-Jamal She is known by one name. Say the name, Ramona, and all know of whom you speak. Ramona Africa, of course. She, like the singer Madonna, is known by one name. But she isn’t an entertainer. As far as I know, she isn’t known for singing or dancing. She is a revolutionary. A scarred veteran of May 13, 1985, when local, state and federal cops conspired to bomb and kill MOVE members in West Philadelphia. Ramona survived, but didn’t escape the flames, the smoke, the deadly fumes, the hatred, unscathed. Several weeks ago, we learned she was ill, fell into a coma, and was hospitalized. The woman who hit the ground running, who suffered a foul and unjust imprisonment, who showed an uncanny strength, who up for justice all over the world, has been forced to rest and to recuperate. MOVE needs your help to support her in this rest and recuperation that she needs. Please contact:On GoFundMe page: Help Save Ramona Africa --©’18maj

  • Bipartisan Hell (2:25) Mumia Abu-Jamal

    28/08/2018 Duración: 02min

BI-PARTISAN HELL[col. writ. 8/27/18] (c)’18 Mumia Abu-Jamal In much of public discourse today, one hears the call for “bi-partisanship”, as in the nations two corporate political parties, working together to ‘get things done’.’One hears this mostly from corporate media elites, or intellectuals, who decry the lack of civility in today’s politics. What does this mean in the real world? It is a plaintive plea that politicians play nicer. In practice, however, it really means that they unite before their funders to bequeath more and more of the nations’s wealth on them. For the poor, the impoverished, the immigrant and the oppressed, it really means more war on them!  For the wealthy elites ever love disunion among the people; between irrelevancies -like race, ethnicity and social rank. They have ever and always tried to use race, language, age and other perceived differences, to drive workers at each other’s throats. They have ever stoked fear of the Other to secure their class ascendancy. That’s the lesson of Tr

  • Prisoners ID Data Leak (2:47) Kerry Shakaboona Marshall

    28/08/2018 Duración: 02min

"Pennsylvania Department of Corrections hacked for incarcerated persons ID data," by Kerry Shakaboona Marshall. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, a state agency that's all about maintaining security, was hacked for incarcerated persons' and DOC personnel's identification data. On April 3rd, 2018. The accreditation, audit, and risk management security company Arms, a vendor for the Department of Corrections was hacked for its data.  About 50,000 incarcerated persons' and thousands of DOC personnel's identification data was stolen by hackers. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections did not inform incarcerated persons of the data breach and theft of files until four months later in August 2018, well after hackers have compromised DOC security and made off with the stolen identity of 50,000 incarcerated persons. By that time, hackers have done sold the stolen data on the underground market and fosters have done assumed the stolen identities and have went on identity crime sprees. Much damage can be d

  • Reality Winner American Hero (3:44) Kerry Shakaboona Marshall

    28/08/2018 Duración: 03min

"The imprisonment of Reality Winner, a real American hero from national security state to police state," by Kerry Shakaboona Marshall. Her name is Reality Winner, a 26-year-old Georgia woman, and a commended Air Force veteran with a top-secret security clearance that blew the whistle on a U.S. gOvernment coverup of information that the Russians had compromised U.S. voting systems through a sophisticated computer hacking scheme. In April of 2017, United States government attempted to deceive the American public by showing people that Russians had not penetrated our electronic voting systems and the public's electronic voting and the presidential elections were secure. Then comes Reality Winner, blowing the whistle on their entire cover-up. Reality Winner, like Daniel Ellsberg and Mark Felt before her, was working for a government contractor and have reviewed evidence that the Russians had indeed been very successful in targeting American voting systems, VR systems, a major electronic voting records vendor had

  • The New World (2:09) Charles Diggs

    20/08/2018 Duración: 02min

"The New World." My name is Charles Karim Diggs. I'm calling from Pennsylvania, from the new prison called Phoenix. A European escaped from Europe because of oppression, tyrants, and religious persecution. They also suffered economic deprivation, whereas they could not rise out of poverty. Their position in Europe was a- was a destiny of poverty, prison, and early death. They chose to migrate to the new world. The new world afforded them relief for millions of jobs, opportunity. They was even given land. Some were even given slaves. They were taught trades. No door was closed. With the- the one group that was denied human treatment or opportunity was the African slaves. Every form of growth and development was denied them. And if they sought any education, learn how to read, they were tortured and murdered and beat severely. After 300 years with this type of torture, slavery was abolished to some degree. Until the American people understand the effects of this legacy of insanity, we will not be able to stop t

  • Immigration Nation (2:19) Mumia Abu-Jamal

    19/08/2018 Duración: 02min

Immigration Nation[col. writ.  8/24/18 © ’18 Mumia Abu-Jamal] Say one thing about the Trump presidency, from day 1, issue 1 has been immigration. More specifically, the issue has been American anxiety about the rising tide of immigrants – especially Mexican or other ‘nonwhite’ immigrants. Several days ago, I’d been reading No One Is Illegal by Justin Akers Chacon and Mike Davis (Haymarket books: Chi.) I’ve learned new things on virtually every page, especially the harrowing history of how the U.S. treated immigrants over the years. The history of the U.S. is largely seen by the demand for workers from China, Japan, the Philippines, and later, Mexico. They would be invited, welcomed, super-exploited by growers, and then they would be demonized by politicians and media, to be assaulted, insulted and eventually – deported. These workers were paid a mere pittance, some, like Chinese, were spit on in the streets by white ruffians and vigilantes. Some were beaten. Some were killed. When Mexicans came North to take th

  • Is Administration of Justice Fair in America? (5:02) Charles Diggs

    18/08/2018 Duración: 05min

My name is Charles Karim Diggs, and I'm at Graterford state prison. What we call it now- it's a new jail we have called Phoenix. They just completed it, and we will have been transferred over almost two months now, and, uh, so I'm adjusting to the new prison. Anyway, my subject for today is, "Is the administration of justice fair in America?" It is August 14th, 2018, and almost every news station is covering the recent grand jury investigation concerning the sexual, moral, and spiritual molestation allegedly taken place in Pennsylvania and the Catholic diocese. The report accuses 350 priests of sexual- rape and molesting of children as young as seven years of age. The report is graphic. The grand jury was consisted of 23 people. They found that secret archives were set up where only one bishop had the key. The report said over 1000 children were raped and molested. No charges will be brought because of statute of limitations. Historically, the Catholic Church has done great work throughout the communities and

  • Death of Incarcerated Citizens (2:59) Uhuru Rowe

    13/08/2018 Duración: 03min

This is Uhuru Rowe speaking to you live on Prison Radio from Sussex 2 State Prison. Today I want to talk to you about a crisis that is happening behind the walls at Sussex 2 State Prison. When I say crisis, I'm talking about the more than 12 preventable deaths of incarcerated citizens here, Sussex 2 State Prison, that has gone unreported in the media and has not been investigated by the state. To explain just how preventable most of these deaths could have been, I want to highlight the caseload. Um, a friend of mine named John Tran, who was within two years of going home to his son, whom he always talked about with the twinkle in his eye, unbeknownst to Tran, that's what we called him here, he would never get to see his son again on the other side of these prison walls. That's because on January 11th, 2017, he was beaten to death during what many say was an hour-long confrontation with a cellmate. There are three acts of egregious negligence, which contributed to, um, to Tran's death. Number one: there wasn't

  • Prison and Slavery (3:01) Kevin Rashid Johnson

    12/08/2018 Duración: 03min

This is Kevin Rashid Johnson. It's been some years since I've been able to communicate through Prison Radio on account of a series of transfers between various states' prison systems. From Virginia to Oregon, to Texas, to the- to Florida. And now back to Virginia as reprisals for my political work politicizing the inhumane conditions and abuses that pervade US prisons in general. And specific to each prison system I've been confined to. In each state I've been rewarded with solitary confinement and increasing extremes in my living conditions. These responses to my efforts proves the importance and power of outlets like Prison Radio that enable prisoners words to reach the public year: giving those on the outside a look inside the lived reality of the world's largest disposal site for marginalized people—an organized system of modern slavery. And let there be no doubt about it. Slavery is alive and well in America. In fact, it was reformed at the end of the civil war and preserved by the 13th amendment, which

  • Argument by Raymond Vasvari in Hanrahan v. Mohr 8-3-2018 Sixth circuit

    07/08/2018 Duración: 37min

When we fight fight for our brothers and sisters inside to be heard, censorship will become impossible. Getting to work with Alice Lynd is a privilege- her work is top notch. She inspired me to go to law school. Now having Staughton in the mix at dinner, pushing and prodding and just expanding my thinking that was refreshing. I learned a whole heck of a lot over the first few days of August. Ray Vasvari, a low sweeping bow. That was an inspired and right on point argument before the Sixth Circuit court of appeal in Hanrahan v. Mohr. Did I say this already: When we fight fight for our brothers and sisters inside to be heard, censorship will become impossible. More soon in a full report... from the front lines... seeking the first amendment rights of journalists and the Lucasvile defendants: Siddique Abdullah Hasan, Jason Robb, Keith Bomani Lamar, George Skates, and Greg Curry and journalists d.jones, Christoper Hedges, James Ridgeway, and myself.
