What type of Spiritual Authority do Pastors have over congregations and where does it come from and how is it exercised? Are church members called to "obey and submit" to their Pastors? Along the way we discuss people who have been hurt by churches and abusive Pastors, bad Pastors and what is the main job of a Pastor. • "Creation and Evolution" What We Believe and Why Fall 2022 #1

    11/10/2022 Duración: 01h13min

We start our new Fall 2022 "What We Believe and Why" series by looking at the Biblical story of Creation. Does the Biblical account contradict science, or can we find some agreement between the two "theories"? We examine all of the various theories about Creation and Evolution as they line up against scripture and look for compatibility.  Does scripture teach that God created in 6 literal 24-hour day periods?  What about the Dinosaurs? What about carbon dating? Thank you for listening to our podcast and we would love for you to subscribe to our page and share with others. • "Christian Common Sense" In Christ Alone Series from Hebrews #45

    19/09/2022 Duración: 36min

As the writer of Hebrews closes out his letter, he offers up some closing thoughts with very practical application and expectations for those who call themselves Christians. While they may seem like "common sense" for some, as we find ourselves living in a culture where discernment, critical thinking and even common sense itself have become more of the exception than the rule - even in the American church - these principles are all the more vital for us to apply and live out in our everyday lives. From Hebrews 13:1-7. The principles discussed include - Leading with Love, Honor and Respect Biblical Marriage, Find Contentment and Honor those who Honor God. Thank you for listening to our podcast and we would love for you to subscribe to our page and share with others. • "A Tale of Two Mountains" In Christ Alone Series from Hebrews #44

    06/09/2022 Duración: 37min

You hear people say it all the time when asked about their life and what they hope for when they might face God. It sounds something like, "I think I have lived a good life" or "I hope I have done enough" with the idea being that how we live in this life will determine whether we go to heaven. While the writer of Hebrews addresses that issue using theological truths all throughout the letter, here at the end of Hebrews 12 he bluntly and starkly confronts this false mentality. Using the metaphor of Mount Sinai and Mount Zion to represent legalism/the law verses grace alone, he clearly and boldly states that the means by which we choose to approach God (either through your own good works, or through grace and faith in Jesus Christ) is the same means by which God will judge you. This is a very relevant truth for the American church where a recent survey revealed that 35% of "pastors" do not believe that Jesus is the only path to salvation and that people can "go to heaven"

  • "Keys to Navigating your Race" In Christ Alone Series from Hebrews #43

    29/08/2022 Duración: 38min

As we continue to build on our study of Hebrews Chapter 12, We discover that there are certain areas that our "Spiritual Race" (Christian Life) should always use as guidepost and other areas that we must avoid at all costs. After the author gives the analogy comparing the life of a Christian to a marathon race that each individual must run, he encourages us how we might run it as smoothly and successfully as possible (vs 1-3). He then reminds us that it we find ourselves slowing down, detoured or quitting that God loves us enough to use difficult circumstances and situations in our lives to get us back on track (Spiritual discipline, vs 4-11). In this message, he is going to lay down some guides (not running alone, pursue peace, let Holiness be your guide) to help us navigate the race we are called to run, but also offer some warnings of a few things (bitterness, sexual immorality and Worldliness) we might encounter along the race that we need to avoid.  From Hebrews 12:12-17.Thank you for listening

  • "The Hardest Expression of Love" In Christ Alone Series from Hebrews #42

    22/08/2022 Duración: 37min

Many Christians are confused by the concept or thought that God disciplines "his children" or those who follow Jesus Christ. We ask, "Why and How would he do that?" This message looks at God's discipline in the context of Hebrews 12:1-3 from the previous message (#41 A Race Worth Running) and why it is very important for Christians to not only recognize and accept God's discipline in their lives but to even learn count it and claim it as a promise of God's love for us. • "A Race Worth Running" In Christ Alone Series from Hebrews #41

    16/08/2022 Duración: 44min

As the writer of Hebrews moves into more practical application in Hebrews Chapter 12, he starts by encouraging Christians to "run the race set before them" but what does that mean? In this message we look at why "running a race" is used as a metaphor for the Christian life by both the author of Hebrews and the Apostle Paul and what that might look like in our everyday lives. • "Faith When the Ending is not Happy" In Christ Alone Series from Hebrews #40

    08/08/2022 Duración: 33min

It is easy to read Hebrews 11, the chapter described as the "Heroes of the Faith" as a lesson in how faith in God triumphs over everything but is that the whole story? The writer of Hebrews ends the chapter with a litany of very disturbing events that happened to those who placed their faith in God - tortured, flogged, stoned, even cut in half? This is not the sort of "feel good story" that many modern Christians seem to be looking for on Sundays, but it is a vital truth that we need to hear.  Nowhere does the Bible promise that living the life of a Christ follower would be easy - matter of fact, it promises just the opposite. This message examines the promises of God that every Christian can claim in the midst of storms and difficulties and for when it seems like your story can't possibly have a "happy ending". • "How Faith Answers Life's Toughest Questions" In Christ Alone series from Hebrews #38

    18/07/2022 Duración: 39min

In this message we examine the life of Moses as mentioned in Hebrews 11. It goes without saying that if you were to put together a list of heroes of the faith from the Old Testament, Moses would surely be at the top of that list. He is considered by many to be the greatest man in the Old Testament, he received the 10 Commandments from God and established the law, he renewed the Covenant between God and the Israelites, he established the sacrificial worship system and oh yeah. he confronted the greatest empire of its day to rescue, set free the Hebrew people from slavery in Egypt. But these are not the examples of faith that we find in Hebrews 11, instead we have several glimpses from Moses's earlier life that set him on the path to becoming the Hero of Faith we know today. Why would the writer choose these examples and what are their significance? How do these examples help us answer some of life's most challenging questions for our own lives like; "Who am I?" "Why am I here?", &

  • "Leaving a Lasting Legacy of Faith" In Christ Alone Series from Hebrews #37

    11/07/2022 Duración: 35min

In this message we discuss how we can leave a legacy of Faith for our children, grandchildren and all of those generations that follow. Using Abraham's example of faith when he was willing to sacrifice Isaac in obedience to God, we discuss what it might look like for everyday Christians to practice a sacrificial faith and how that type of faith develops our legacies. Are we willing to give to God whatever it is in our lives that are of most importance? our relationships? our marriage? our children? our finances? What about our hopes and dreams and expectations? • "How Faith Falters" In Christ Alone Series from Hebrews #35

    27/06/2022 Duración: 35min

In this message we look at the struggles of faith that Abraham had on his way to becoming a "Hero of the Faith" listed in the roll call of faith in Hebrews 11. While most of us know about Abraham's great steps of faith like leaving his home in Ur to be obedient to follow God's call to the "promise land" or his willingness to sacrifice his "miracle" son on the Altar; but what is not so well known is all of the faith failures that he experienced along the way. It is by examining these failures that we can identify some of the same struggles that many of us have when it comes to being obedient to God and stepping out by faith in our own everyday lives.  We look at things like fear, worry, impatience and selfishness and both how they can hinder our faith and what we can do to overcome them. • "Finding Faithful Fathers" Father's Day Message 2022

    20/06/2022 Duración: 30min

As our culture continues to dimmish the role that Fathers play in the home, our families, our churches and our nation is paying the price. In this message we look at the impact that the lack of engaged fathers is having on many of the difficulties we are facing in our nation and how the Bible gives us some answers on how to address them - starting in the home and with our fathers. This message is an encouragement to all of those fathers out there that are doing their best to lead, guide and grow their children in Christ centered homes. • "A Consistent Pattern of Faith" In Christ Alone Series from Hebrews #34

    13/06/2022 Duración: 28min

In this message we examine some common misconceptions about what faith is and how Christian's communicate about their faith. Using language like "if only I had more faith" or "If only I had prayed harder" when God doesn't answer our prayers the way we wanted or would have liked is a dangerous misunderstanding of prayer, the nature of God and faith.  We also look at the pattern revealed in Hebrews 11 mentions of Abel, Enoch and Noah for some practical ways we can mature, develop and grow in our faith. • "Building a Foundation of Faith" In Christ Alone Series from Hebrews #33

    06/06/2022 Duración: 33min

Why is it important for Christians to practice, develop and mature in their faith in their day to day lives, and how do you do that? What might it look like in a practical sense? How is Biblical faith different from the everyday faith we practice as we go through life? Join us as we begin our look at Hebrews Chapter 11 and the "roll call of faith" by defining what Biblical faith is and how it can radically transform your daily lives.
