Lawhead's Court calls an audible and decides to jump on a bus from Chicago to Cleveland after doing shows with Bill Burr at the Chicago Theater rather than fly back to LA.  An excited Jason heads back home and gives a live remote podcast hours before the Cleveland Indians and Tampa Bay Devil Rays 1 game Wild Card play in game.  Having to Scalp tickets to see it, Jason and his father Jim (Podcast's Namesake) will do whatever it takes to see the game.  With storied history and years of dissapointment in the balance, the Lawheads hope that new manager and 2 time world champion Terry Franco has the ability to change Tribe fans' fortunes. So in the immortal words of Jake Taylor from the movie Major League, " Lets win the whole Fu#@&ng Thing"

Lawhead's Court is pleased to welcome former major leaguer Brady Anderson. A baseball lifer Brady shares his childhood & learning from his father, favorite players he watched growing up, his first opening day facing Jack Morris and being drafted by his favorite team. Brady also reflects on a memorable '96 season and his close friendship with Cal Ripken Jr. and their mission to help Japan's Tsunami victims. We thank this great humble ambassador of the game he has loved since he was a boy and still today. Now up at the plate, Brady Anderson.

I return to LA after a long road trip of gigs in St. Louis, Cleveland, Buffalo, Chicago and NYC. I got to see what a championship looks like in Chi-Town, eat Meatballs in Little Italy, snack on bacon in Buffalo & beef up in Chicago.  A 12 year old Ohio State fan beats his Michigan cancer to top from 3, Babe Ruth & Earl Weaver debut on this day & the Browns let down a dead fan 1 more time on Cursed in Cleveland.  The Lawhead Life makes history in 3 of the best All Star games ever and I reflect how baseball has meant so much to me.

My old friend and Boston funnyman/grill master Mike Faverman drops by Lawhead's Court and we chat how sports and cooking go hand and hand. As a once short lived play by play broadcaster, I have always admired and looked up to the greats who have called sports on radio and tv throughout my life.  From yesteryear to today, play by play broadcasters have been as vital of the excitement of games as the athletes determining the outcome. From "THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!" to "Do you believe in Miracles? YES"!! ... I go over all the great announcers from  Cossell to Vin Skully and the greatest calls from the likes of Jack Buck and more. So sit back and come along for the nostalgia of what makes the game of sport more dramatic than just what we see.  Its also what we hear that keeps the memory etched in the back of our minds.

I welcome my first interview to Lawheads Court. As a former sports broadcaster myself, I am always critiquing the voices that call & analyze sports over the airwaves weather be radio or television. Today we sit down with the beautiful and talented Justine Ward. A Midwestern girl and recent Notre Dame grad, she has had experience as a Notre Dame Football sideline reporter including other highlights and learn much more about the aspiring young talent who has her sights set on a career in the broadcast business. June has always been among a favorite month of mine and it's here. We say goodbye to Deacon Jones and put his dominance up against anybody's, I give my deviled egg recipe and describe meeting a scary looking guy with a friendly personality. In the From 3, the NBA Finals match up all set, NHL is on the verge and MLB is starting to separate. On this day Joe Willy Namath quits football for owning a bar. Once upon a time, 10 cent beer night caused a curse in Cleveland  when a riot broke out on the field during a game against the Rangers. We go on summer vacation on The Lawhead Life & play all day, discover girls and not be bored...

Memories are probably the best thing sports leaves behind. As you get older you make more of them and continue to remember why there are special.  We celebrate my producer Rena's 40th birthday and mull over the best sports memories as seen in person and watched on tv.  We learn what Bert Blyleven and only 1 other pitcher in Major league history have in common and say farewell to Babe Ruth on this day. We tip our caps to Hall of Famers who've served in combat. We also remember Nolan Ryan's lat win, Kirk Gibson's Home Run, Fenway Park & much more... I've always wanted to sit next to Pete Rose, he's been so many lessons in life, who has been reduced to what he always was. The hit King, period. The essence of the fallen hero and the epitamy of why we should never make athletes too hero like. I look over the 3 most fallen sports hero in my lifetime and reflect on the strength Oklahoma with my childhood memories of Sooner football.
