Ep. 92: Dr. Justin Young-Psychological Ownership in AT
11/01/2022 Duración: 32minA unique paper caught our eye with the title “Psychological Ownership in Athletic Training” and it turns out it was written in part by a former guest Dr. Justin Young (Ep. 82-Tactical Athlete Care). In this episode with Justin we discuss what the paper on psychological ownership is all about and how its definition fits into the profession of athletic training. The paper found some unique insight into how athletic trainers relate not only to their employers and organizations but also to the profession as a whole. The insights about psychological ownership can be useful in many ways. It allows athletic trainers to reflect on their personal ownership within the profession and their current employer. Does this allow for changing how they apply themselves? It can also be extremely useful for athletic trainers in management and leadership positions as it shows where psychological ownership for ATs can lie and they can then potentially address areas to increase ownership and potential quality of work life. Ep. 88: Ken Cieslak-AT with Added DC Skillset
24/11/2021 Duración: 01h11minKen Cieslak is a DC, AT but doesn’t necessarily use the skills in that order. In this episode we discuss how it came to be that Ken pursued a chiropractic degree while keeping his AT credential and then ultimately staying predominately in the AT profession in the SSAT. Ep. 86: Dichotomy in AT
11/11/2021 Duración: 43minDi’kademe/: a division or contrast between two things that are or are represented as being opposed or entirely different. Moving to one extreme or the other can be hard to balance, especially if you try and make two seemingly opposing views/perspectives try and mix together and champion both of them. This is where dichotomy comes from and the concept that you have to find balance. There are times to be aggressive but you have to be able to double back with caution because you can’t run yourself in only one direction and then immediately make a switch. Recognizing and embracing the dichotomy of ideas is important to all professions but can have some serious implications in athletic training. It is important to recognize the wide range of differing ideas but also be able to balance those in order to be maximally effective. We discussing this episode.
