Bad Times Can Make You Bitter or Better - Podcast #142
04/05/2018 Duración: 11minThings happen all the time that knock us down in life - those things can make us bitter or better.... I'm looking to choose better. A few days ago I was physically assaulted by a student at my school. No details here other than he sucker-punched me in the face. I got checked out - all is well, no broken bones, no concussion, just a very colorful black eye. I was lucky. I never saw it coming and it could have been so much worse. I'm trying very hard to look at the many lessons from this. This article that I found: https://www.success.com/blog/bad-times-can-make-you-bitter-or-better Full of great reminders for me and for all of us going through tough times. Just like Randy Pausch (The Last Lecture) said - I never found anger to help things to get better. I'm trying to focus on the things that I can do more and get better. More to come on this story and the lessons I am learning... thanks.

Hear That Sound? It's Time Ticking Away - Podcast #140
26/04/2018 Duración: 13minWow - today's show had a lot of ingredients with it as there was a lot on my mind this morning. First of all - thanks to Dr. Jeff Lip and his podcast that came out yesterday, that's what got this all going. Listen to it here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/138014/686562-podcast-33-relationships-denise-widow-with-wings An emotional story to say the least about loss & grief, but it hammers home the fact about Time is flying by and that there will be an end for all of us. It's time to stop wasting time & do the things that are important in life. From a couple of podcasts this morning that I listed to - Especially from Sam Crowley - listen to it here: http://everydayissaturday.com/how-to-stay-motivated-through-failure/ About failure and that it happens to all of us - but we can't stay there - there are lessons to learn and we need to learn them & move on. There was also this idea about finding our passion & purpose -- that's what we need to spend some of our ti

A GREAT Book With Timeless Messages - Podcast #139
24/04/2018 Duración: 13minOne of my favorite books of all time is "Tuesdays With Morrie" by Mitch Albom. This book (like many of his books) was made into a movie - a fantastic movie by the way. For years now I have been teaching lessons from this book in my Principles of Leadership course and I wanted to share some things today that I was reminded about as we just finished going through the movie and some of the other items from the making of the movie. What got me thinking about this was listening to Dr. Jeff Lip's recent interview with his Pastor - Robert Burns - which was a great show by the way - check it out here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/138014/686552-podcast-31-careers-robert-burns-church-pastor but it was the relationships point that they hammered home on the show - one thing Robert said - "if have to choose to be kind or be right - choose kindness." That got me thinking about Morrie and what so many of his lessons were about. Make sure you check out Mitch Albom's site that has

Pick Up Those Success Clues - They Are All Around Us - Podcast #137
19/04/2018 Duración: 12minThere are success clues all over the place for us to pick up on. My buddy Dr. Jeff Lip sent me a message recently about his latest blog post - find it here: jefflip.com He listened to Oprah's SuperSoul Conversations Podcasts with Madonna Badger and her incredible, heart-breaking story. A must listen to: http://www.podbean.com/media/share/dir-naycp-3e19267 This story along with recent guest speakers and other lessons we have watched & listened to in my Leadership Class, really got me thinking about how important relationships are in life and the fact that we are all in this together. Success leaves clues out there, every single day. We need to make sure we are paying attention - we can't live and walk through life clueless. That doesn't work well at all. Check out some of my thoughts here is this podcast. A big shoutout to all of you listening to my show - my heart is full of gratitude for you taking a few moments from your days to listen to me. Especially those of you outsid

17/04/2018 Duración: 10minWow - what an enlightening morning. Woke up a little on the negative side - cold, snowing again, some things that my work day ended with yesterday - things that I knew I had to fix and fix fast. It started with having some gratitude and coffee, seeing my dog, a nice warm shower too was great. On the way into work - listening to Brian Buffini talking on Motivation - find that podcast here: http://www.podbean.com/media/share/dir-anwu3-3e33bca and then talking with one of my favorite people walking into my building this morning. Family Tree & Gratitude - Podcast #130
06/04/2018 Duración: 05minJust a quick-hitter today - it was something that I wanted to get out quickly. On a recent visit with my parents, we were going over some of our family tree information - mostly put in by my son on Ancestry. It never ceases to amaze me on all the little things that have to happen in our lives from people that we don't we sometimes never, ever know. Our ancestors - we only get the opportunity to meet our parents, maybe our grandparents - and if we are lucky, our great-grandparents. Of course there are aunts & uncles and our cousins, etc. It is amazing to see all of these names of my ancestors that I never met from so long ago and some even back from the 1700's and before. The choices, ups and downs in their lives, their decisions, their work efforts, etc.... all affected me. There are a lot of things that I can do for not only my future but those in my family that I will never, ever meet in the future. It really takes "it's not just about me" to a whole new level.

Favorite Time Of Year - March Madness & The Masters = Success Leaves Clues - Podcast #128
03/04/2018 Duración: 10minLove this time of year. Not only are we coming out of winter - with Spring coming soon (we hope) - this time of year, for me is very special. March Madness - the NCAA Basketball Tournament, for both men and women, is always very exciting to watch. Since I love basketball so much - coaching girls basketball starting way back in 1982 with my dad, I sincerely love the action, drama, stories, the individuals - both players, coaches and the schools and their fans! But also - maybe even more for me, it's Masters Week too! The Masters - golf's first major of the year played at the same course in Augusta Georgia, starting in 1934 - there is so much history, stories, great characters, drama, energy, emotions and the list goes on and on and on. The whole point of this little stroll down memory lane for me is all about the fact that Success Leaves Clues! For me, great sporting events like these two events are no exception. With so many examples of what life is all about in sports - to me, these two
