  • 100NO 471: The secret sauce to fulfilling relationships

    03/04/2022 Duración: 20min

Imagine if your partner loved your hobby. It doesn’t happen often in relationships, but it does stimulate the conversation about creating – and identifying – hobbies that we enjoy with our loved ones. Quality time is something that we all love – some more than others. But that doesn’t mean that every married couple wants to play golf together, or that every parent and child wants to go to the football or go shopping. Taking the time to understand what the other person wants, and taking the time to discuss what you BOTH might like … is just a part of the secret sauce of living the 100 Not Out Lifestyle. • 100NO 469: How to stay healthy as you get older

    20/03/2022 Duración: 22min

Marcus is wondering how Damo continues to have high standards for his physical health as he gets older. The majority of humanity slowly give up on their physical health standards as they get older, losing muscular strength, becoming obese (through a lowered muscle to fat ratio), and all in all, losing the spark and vitality that they once had. As we get older, certain things become more difficult. We can’t run as fast, or bend down as easily. But that doesn’t mean they’re not important, or shouldn’t be done. As Damo reflects on how he is healthier and stronger today than when 100 Not Out first begin, a big part of his insight is around peer group. • 100NO 468: Floods, Wars & NINE Years of 100 Not Out!

    13/03/2022 Duración: 25min

It’s hard to believe, but we are officially nine years of age here at 100 Not Out! And what a week it’s been! Marcus’s home town of Mullumbimby has been ravaged by the floods, a war is erupting in the northern hemisphere, and an icon of Australian society in Shane Warne died unexpectedly. As random and disconnected as those three events seem to be, there’s some burning longevity lessons and questions in these three events. What’s more important to you – quality or quantity of life? How much do you love where you live? And how grateful are you to be living in a country like Australia? These are just of the chats we have on our ninth birthday of 100 Not Out! This week’s featured image is of Marcus’ daughter Maya helping in the cleanup efforts the day after the floods cleared in Mullumbimby. • 100NO 467: The Almost NINE Year Anniversary Episode

    06/03/2022 Duración: 23min

100 Not Out is about to turn nine years young! Next week, episode 468, marks our ninth year podcasting on the principles of longevity, and we are quite chuffed to still be here, with so much petrol in the tank with what we fill, is a very important message to share. On this episode we share just some of what we’ve learned so far, and what we think we will see in longevity over the coming years. And to everyone who has asked about Marcus and his safety during the floods, all is well – our family is safe and our house is unaffected. We are now doing all we can to support our local community. • 100NO 466: Ageism is rife towards ourselves and others

    27/02/2022 Duración: 22min

A recent conversation Marcus had with a friend regarding the age and function of his phone has stimulated a conversation on how we perceive our own hardware and software and ability to function as human beings. Are we telling ourselves “I’m too old to do X” as a result of what others have told us? Are our beliefs about getting older accurate? Do we too quickly jump to “never again” when we experience a setback? We discuss these questions and more on the “almost” 9th birthday episode of 100 Not Out. Many years ago Judith Ker was a young girl on her way to see Peter Pan with her family in Edinburgh. Little did she know that she was about to have her life’s work laid out for her. • 100NO 463: Has animal protein v plant protein research lost its way?

    06/02/2022 Duración: 24min

Today we discuss whether the research against the consumption of animal protein has lost its way. Whilst many in the nutrition world continue to promote a diet that excludes animal protein, we discuss whether the research is not holistic enough. Whilst the fast-food industry quite rightly gets the blame for its processing practices of animal protein, what about the traditional farmer who consciously raises an animal and goes through the traditional – albeit difficult – process of bringing that protein to the plate? These curly questions and more form the basis of today’s conversation on 100 Not Out. • 100NO 462: What happen to the human interest stories? Are we being dumbed down?

    30/01/2022 Duración: 22min

With so much of our news feed – be it on television, radio, print or online – dominated by COVID, is it possible that we are being dumbed down by such a narrow ingest of information? After a conversation with an upcoming guest on 100 Not Out, we wonder whether we’re missing out on some inspiring stories of incredible people due to the triage of resources (especially by media companies) being directed to COVID stories instead of human interest stories. Whilst we’re at it, if you’ve come across some incredible people doing marvellous things in their life, please send them to us and we’ll interview them on the poodcast! • 100NO 461: Damo’s surreal international trip

    23/01/2022 Duración: 19min

Damo travelled to Europe over the New Year break and reports back on what international travel is like these days. What does it feel like to be on the other side of the world? Does it re-ignite the desire to travel more often. How surreal is it? • 100NO 460: Damo has COVID – here’s what he’s doing

    16/01/2022 Duración: 21min

Damo has come back from a trip to Europe and has tested positive to COVID-19. How is going? What symptoms has he had – and what most of us probably want to know – what has he been taking during this time? This episode is by no means prescriptive. It’s simply Damo sharing his experiences after testing positive to COVID-19. Given that we believe it’s important to normalise having COVID and not make it sound and feel so scary, this episode hopefully “humanises” what’s happening at the moment. • 100NO 459: How we’re setting goals in 2022

    09/01/2022 Duración: 22min

We both believe here at 100 Not Out that having a goal – or goals – to aim at is important life. But we’re also of the view that there are many ways to go about setting up 2022 for victory, and knowing how YOU like to craft your year – and life – is incredibly important. From going with the flow to over-analysing every single-bitty detail of life, there’s often a happy medium that we each can find in order to live the 100 Not Out lifestyle. On this episode Damo shares his process, and Marcus shares his – in the hope that you find it a little easier – and more fulfilling – in writing your own script for 2022 as a result of listening to this episode. • 100NO 458: Damo’s 2022 Health & Wellness Predictions

    02/01/2022 Duración: 23min

By popular demand it’s back again! Damo shares his insights on what 2022 will look like in the health and wellness world. To be specific, we look at diet and exercise – and what you think might be big in 2022 won’t be the case – according to Damo. COVID has changed the way we do health and wellness, and maybe for the better. When you listen to this episode, it’s more than likely that you’ll want to be a part of the trend Damo sees kicking off (or resuming) in 2022. With paleo here and gone again, vegan still being popular, keto somewhere in the middle – what is the big diet of 2022? And with group exercise out the door during COVID and app-based exercise booming, how will it look this year? All is revealed on the 9th edition of our annual predictions! • 100NO 457: What a year! Reflecting on 2021

    26/12/2021 Duración: 26min

2021 brought home some pretty powerful lessons for all of us. What wasn’t working in our life got magnified (from job dissatisfaction to unhappy relationships), and so did the things we feel like we are winning in. More than ever, “the simple things in life are often the best” came to roost. If we weren’t able to have the simple things (family time, friendships, etc), it became abundantly clear what impact this had on our mental, physical and emotional health. And if we were able to get it, it’s likely been what has got us through. So, reflecting on the highs and lows of a big year – we hope you enjoy

  • 100NO 455: Broken hips, finding balance and choosing acceptance

    12/12/2021 Duración: 24min

It’s been quite the week at 100 Not Out. After Damo”s big 48th birthday episode, Marcus ventured on a family holiday that had been attempted 3 times prior. Like so many, COVID lockdowns and hotspots had cancelled the trip three times. But on the fourth, nine cousins and 7 adults all came together … and on the fourth day, Marcus broke his hip whilst skateboarding with his 2 year old. Fun and games might sometimes end in disaster, but that’s not the attitude we’re taking here. We discuss the metaphors of health conditions, the beauty of modern medicine and natural health alternatives, and the reason why anything but acceptance and grace of things we cannot change is futile. 05/12/2021 Duración: 30min

On this episode, having both moved house recently, we share our experiences in hoarding and chucking. And then we go a bit deeper as to the emotional attachment to material possessions, and whether it impacts our health and to a greater extent, longevity.
