100NO 295: The God Of Sight | Dr Sanduk Ruit Part One
25/11/2018 Duración: 41minHollywood actor Richard Gere calls him one of the world’s greatest living humanitarians The late Fred Hollows described him as a soul mate Fellow Eye Surgeons have called him the Steve Jobs of Opthalmology The people of Nepal simply call him The God Of Sight And the book by Australian journalist Ali Gripper profiling his life is called The Barefoot Surgeon Whatever label bestowed upon Nepal’s first ever Opthalmologist, words only go so far in portraying the remarkable impact Dr Sanduk Ruit has had and continues to have on humanity. He has personally restored sight to over 120,000 human beings – for our Australian listeners I want you to imagine a Melbourne Cricket Ground full of blind people, with 20,000 more waiting in line – all to be personally operated on by one man. It’s no surprise that such efforts have led to accolades including Asia’s version of the Nobel Peace Prize – The Ramon Magsaysay Award, Asian Of The Year – and I’m so happy to say an Honorary Order of Australia “for services to humanity” Bu

100NO 294: Why 84% of vegetarians and vegans return to meat
18/11/2018 Duración: 27minA study published in Psychology Today showed that 84% of vegetarians and vegans return to meat. The study showed a number of reasons why people return to meat, but also the motivation for giving it up in the first place are the topic of discussion on this episode. In the pursuit of ageing well, the 100 Not Out message is as much on HOW to eat as it is on WHAT to eat. We discuss how some people do “vegan well” whereas others are suffering from malnutrition, such is the poor quality of their diet. *** APPLICATIONS OPEN *** Our 2019 Longevity Experience to the Greek Island Blue Zone of Ikaria is now taking applications. 10 days of immersion on the island where people forget to die will be the highlight for 18 incredible people. 100NO 289: Seven Year Cycle On Health, Fertility, Ageing & Life
15/10/2018 Duración: 34minAccording to traditional Chinese medicine, the body progresses in cycles of seven years. The power of the seven year cycle is not exclusive to TCM, with astrology, traditional apprenticeships and many more areas of life controlled by the “power of seven”. In this episode we discuss the importance of the passing of time, whether it be for the attainment of healthy, empowered ageing, or whatever it is you want in life. 100NO 288: Why Women’s Health Gets More Coverage Than Men’s Health
07/10/2018 Duración: 26minDamian has just hosted an evening for men to discuss the stress response, mental health and how to reduce the impact that chronic stress can have on us. It raises interesting topics on health – More men die from prostate cancer than women do of breast cancer More men are diagnosed with prostate cancer than women are with breast cancer Suicide is more prevalent amongst men than women Why do women’s health topics get more coverage and awareness than mens? Marcus thinks the answer is pretty simple. An insightful episode on topics that are in the news at the moment. Damo is raising money for the Polished Man campaign, where he is wearing painted fingernails as part of raising awareness for childhood death (1 child dies every 5 minutes as a result of violence). 100NO 287: Needles In Strawberries, Poor Food Choices & ARFAD
30/09/2018 Duración: 22minThe strawberry scandal has the possibility for a ripple effect that could be disastrous for the health of Australians. Marcus still holds the romantic notion that more farmers markets would prevent such a scandal, and Damian discusses just how poor some people’s diets might become as a result of fearing the purchase of fresh food. 100NO 285: Dissecting Prof David Sinclair’s Fight Against Ageing
16/09/2018 Duración: 23minDavid Sinclair is as dedicated to the fight against ageing as we are to the graceful ageing movement. On this episode we discuss the different approaches western medicine and biotech companies are taking to the fight against ageing, compared to the approach we speak about on this podcast. As we outline a number of times on this podcast, this is not a personal attack on Prof Sinclair or anyone with a more medical philosophy on ageing. It’s intended to be a conversation starter and eye-opener on just how wide and varied humanity’s beliefs are on how to help humanity make the rest of their life the best of their life. Click here to watch the one-minute video featuring Prof David Sinclair and their latest strategies to fight ageing. Click here to watch the Power of 10 video Damian refers to in this episode. 100NO 284: 86 and thriving | Smashing the ageing stereotype with David Dobson
09/09/2018 Duración: 24minDavid Dobson is not your average 86 year old. Recommended to us by BestMe Radio host, Carl Hammington, David Dobson is fit, active, sharp and inspired at 86 years young. Now isn’t that what the 100 Not Out lifestyle is all about?! The post 100NO 284: 86 and thriving | Smashing the ageing stereotype with David Dobson appeared first on The Wellness Couch.

100NO 283: Damo’s Bad Advice | Wellness Summit Recap | The Passage Of Time
02/09/2018 Duración: 24minWith the 2018 Wellness Summit now behind us, Marcus & Damo reflect on their experiences from Summit #6. Damo had a number of 1:1 exchanges with attendees and shares some powerful, funny and touching moments – particularly of an attendee who saw Damo over 20 years ago and received some questionable advice (to which Damo sincerely apologised for!) We discuss the power of coming together in real life and bringing listeners, new wellness fans and the podcasters all together for one magical weekend. The power of the passage of time, as brought up by Marcus at The Wellness Summit, also gets a mention, as well as the importance of not blanket agreeing with everything everyone says (and cultivating the art of independent thought). Check out the hashtag #thewellnesssummit to see what we got up, or go to The Wellness Couch on Instagram and Facebook for a full wrap. 100NO 280: What Happens To The Body When You Go Vegan
12/08/2018 Duración: 30minA recent article in the Sydney Morning Herald on the vegan diet sparked the interest of Marcus & Damian, particularly for how well written and balanced it was. It described how the body changes under a vegan diet, and MP & Damo discuss in detail the changes at Day 0, Day 90 and Day 365. Having interviewed vegans on 100 Not Out including Mimi Kirk, David Wolfe and Ruth Heidrich, it continues to be a fascinating conversation on just how to thrive on a solely plant-based diet. *** THE WELLNESS SUMMIT IS ALMOST HERE *** If you’ve loved this conversation and you haven’t yet booked in to The Wellness Summit, don’t miss out! This type of information and more will be on the menu. The final release of discounted tickets have just been made available, and only 80 seats remain at the time of recording. 100NO 279: When To Improve & When To Let Go | The Lure Of Perfection | As The Twig Bends So Grows To Tree
05/08/2018 Duración: 28minWe get into a deeper philosophical conversation on this episode, centred around Emerson’s one-liner “as the twig bends, so grows the tree.” Having recently returned from “the island where people forget to die”, we discuss – Have we fallen into the gap of thinking an area of our life is bad or average when in fact it’s incredible? What role has social media had in our desire to be “perfect”? Have we lost the art of being fulfilled at the simplest things? How do we choose when to improve on something and when to let it go? And so much more. A challenging conversation to have, hopefully an engrossing conversation to listen to. The Wellness Summit is almost here! Yet to get your tickets to The Wellness Summit? The FINAL release of discounted tickets is out now – snap them up at www.thewellnesssummit.com before they’re sold out! 30/07/2018 Duración: 27minMarcus & Damian catch up for the first time since Ikaria. They’re excited to reconnect and talk passionately about the following – How much biohacking can we do on the gut? What are safe levels of pickled and fermented vegetables? What is the true purpose of fermented food? What other non-food sources of gut improvement can we look at? What level of fruit & vegetable intake Japan is recommending (notable the country #1 on life expectancy) All this and more on the latest episode of 100 Not Out. 22/07/2018 Duración: 27minHi 100 NOt Out listeners, Marcus here. I’m in Paris for three more days before returning home and have had plenty of thoughts buzzing around over the past six weeks in Europe. ON this episode I discuss three which have been major themes. 100NO 276: The French Paradox & Community Living With Cook Dordogne & Le Chevrefuille Founders Ian & Sara Fisk
15/07/2018 Duración: 26minFor the last 10 days Marcus and family have been in the Dordogne region of France, in the south west to be exact about 2 hours from Bordeaux and learning so much about the French culture. If you’ve listened to 100 Not Out for a while or heard Marcus speak before, you’ll have heard of Jeanne Calment, the oldest human being ever to lived, making it to 122 years and 164 days. The incredible Frenchwoman did this whilst smoking for 95 years, drinking port wine every night and eating a kilo of chocolate each week. This example is by no means a valid reason to start smoking or increase your chocolate or alcohol consumption, but it does beg the question —- WHY? To have a chat about food, French culture and Jeanne Calment I am joined by Ian & Sara Fisk. Ian & Sara co-founded Le Chevrefuille – a beautiful farmstead, B&B and self-catering residence here in the Dordogne – and Cook Dordogne – a cooking school dedicated to helping people understand the French way of cooking and food preparation, especially in t
