  • Husker247 Podcast: Mickey or the field?

    19/10/2022 Duración: 40min

Husker247 gathered during the midpoint of Nebraska’s second bye week to talk about the Purdue game, Nebraska’s team as it heads into the final five contests, Mickey Joseph and where things sit with the recruiting. The show opened with a conversation about Nebraska’s contest at Purdue, what Michael Bruntz and Brian Christopherson saw on the scene, how Trey Palmer kept getting open, how good Aidan O’Connell and Charlie Jones were and why Nebraska’s pass rush remains a pretty big concern.  From there Mike Schaefer posed a question to the group at large — right now if forced to wager is Nebraska’s next coach Mickey Joseph or the field? This led to a discussion about Nebraska’s interim coach and what’s ahead for the Huskers, what likely has to happen for Joseph to keep the job and how winnable any of Nebraska’s final five games are against Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa. Finally recruiting pops up as the trip talks about Lincoln East’s Malachi Coleman and his upcoming decision. Are the Huskers t

  • Husker247 HypeCast: Purdue

    13/10/2022 Duración: 33min

Nebraska has a chance for its first three game winning streak since October 2016, when the Huskers started 7-0 ahead of a critical game against Wisconsin.  This effort at a trifecta looks radically different as the Huskers have battled back from a 1-3 start to evening things up and sitting at 3-3 overall following wins against Indiana and Rutgers.  That’s why it is the perfect time to get hyped for this game against Purdue on Saturday. The Husker247 crew plus Jack Mitchell talked through the game, the matchups and what oddly specific things could happen along the way. Among the conversations had on Thursday morning was if Nebraska’s best offense is throwing deep passes to Trey Palmer, which Huskers are on the mend and which could be playing Saturday, if Nebraska can put together an attack against a strong Purdue defense and what to make of Casey Thompson’s season so far.  Then things switch to the defense where we learn what life might look like without Luke Reimer if the linebacker is unable to go in the mid

The two start the conversation with Nebraska’s slow open to the game and the defense’s quick rebound following an ugly first drive. From there the conversation gets to how the Huskers figured out some adjustments on both sides of the ball.  A big chunk of the Sunday conversation centered on a pair of Huskers who had important performances on Friday night. There’s was Garrett Nelson, who followed up his Indiana game with another strong outing against Rutgers. And Casey Thompson who hung tough behind the patchwork and struggling offensive line, taking hit after hit but giving the Huskers a chance in the comeback.  Finally there’s conversations about the big concern for Nebraska moving forward and what to make of Mickey Joseph as Nebraska’s coach after three games so far.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.aud
