    Guests: Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry and David Sklar, Jewish Community Relations Council. Many people believe we have a hate crime law in Indiana and are surprised to learn we do not. Prosecutor Curry is a member of a coalition advocating for a change in Indiana law this year that would include a provision regarding bias or hate motivation to an existing list of aggravators that a prosecutor can present to the judge during a sentencing argument (after the conviction is entered by trial or plea agreement). Indiana is one of only five states without any hate or bias crime law, and we believe this is a necessary addition to the state criminal code. The Jewish Community Relations Council, Urban League, Muslim Alliance of Indiana, and Concerned Clergy are just a few of the groups involved in this effort.

    In December, the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee and the Arts Council of Indianapolis unveiled the newest addition to the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick, on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The installation, aptly entitled "Talking Wall" was concepted and designed by Indiana artist Bernard Williams and invites an open-ended conversation about the African-American history of Indianapolis. Unique to the installation is the viewer interaction. The installation offers the opportunity to both literally and figuratively walk in the shadows of Indianapolis' heroic ancestors and cultural icons.
