Five days ago, the Yankees were flying high with the best record in baseball. They still have the best record in baseball, but they have lost four of five and their AL East lead is down to four games in the loss column. A bad rest of the week against the Orioles and Rays and they could lose both.

The Yankees lost for just the 10th time in 38 games on Thursday, and like their other nine losses, it was a winnable game. The Yankees blew two different two-run leads before getting walked off on in the bottom of the ninth. A crappy day and game that's bound to happen over 162.

The Yankees improved their major-league-best record on Tuesday with a 5-4 win over the Orioles. Aaron Judge carried the offense with two home runs, a double and three RBIs, Jameson Taillon was solid for five innings and Michael King was perfect for three innings, but Aaron Boone nearly let Aroldis Chapman ruin the game.

The Yankees beat the Orioles 6-2 on Monday night in Baltimore. With a 26-9 record through 35 games, the Yankees’ ability to win is utterly ridiculous.

It might have only been a two-game series, but it was an important two-game series against the Blue Jays. The Yankees won 6-5 on Tuesday and 5-3 on Wednesday to improve to 22-8 on the season and extend their loss column lead over the Blue Jays to seven.

The Yankees have the best record in baseball because they have the best pitching staff in baseball. The team has benefited from outstanding production from their arms and unbelievable health, but at some point the offense will need to show up consistently.

If the Yankees aren't going to lose when they face Alek Manoah they might not lose again. Of course they're going to lose again, but with the way they have played and their upcoming schedule, this winning streak could keep going for a while.

The Yankees beat the Blue Jays 3-2 on Monday night in Toronto thanks to Gleyber Torres having his best game since Game 1 of the 2019 ALCS. The Yankees' winning streak is now 10 as they continue to separate themselves from the rest of the AL East.

The last two weeks have been nearly free of frustration. Outside of getting shut out in Detroit, the Yankees have done nothing other than win. I love the Yankees right now.

The Yankees have to beat up on the Orioles this week at Yankee Stadium. After losing two of three in Baltimore a couple of weeks ago, the Yankees have to stack wins against the team the rest of the division will stack wins against. Some thoughts on the Yankees coming out of the day off following the sweep of the Guardians.

Gerrit Cole hasn't pitched like himself since the end of last August. Over his last nine starts, he has turned in one good one, and he didn't even get past the fifth inning in that one. On Tuesday against the Tigers, Cole lasted 1 2/3 innings, walked a career-high five batters, including the Tigers' 7 through 9 hitters consecutively. The pitcher who was supposed to be the one sure-thing in the Yankees' rotation has become their least reliable and worst starter.

The Yankees essentially brought back the same team from last season that failed miserably to meet expectations, and they're failing to meet expectations again. When you take the 10th-best offense in the American League and only add 36-year-old Josh Donaldson and .670-career-OPS Isiah Kiner-Falefa, you get an offense that just scored six runs in 29 innings at Camden Yards.

A night after getting shut out, the Yankees shut out the Blue Jays 4-0 to even the series at a game apiece. Nestor Cortes provided the Yankees with the best start they have received one turn through the rotation, and the bullpen pitched another 4 2/3 scoreless innings.With the bullpen depth the Yankees have, there's never a bad option entering the game. Gone are the days of fringe-to-bad major-league relievers trying to get outs for the Yankees, while praying the line drives hit by opponents would find fielders. The Yankees have constructed the deepest and best bullpen ever.

The 2022 Yankees have only played four games, but these Yankees have played much more. The Yankees brought back the same offense plus Josh Donaldson and are getting the same results, especially when Donaldson isn't in the lineup like he inexplicably wasn't on Monday night. After the recap, Cam Lewis of Jays Nation joined me to talk about the excitement in Toronto for this Blue Jays team, having the expectations of being the American League favorite and the state of the team to begin the season.

The front office has taken a roster that wasn't good enough to clinch a postseason berth until the final at-bat of the regular season last year, and a roster whose postseason lasted nine innings, and they have made it worse. The Rangers are headed to the postseason. The final 28 games are about playing well and staying healthy going into the playoffs.
