I AM the Joy of Belonging We all have a need to belong.  Our family, heritage, history, and sense of being connected to something is incredibly important to us.  Jesus wants us to find the joy of being connected to His family.  If we believe in who He is then we are given the right to become the children of His family.  When we understand who we are in His family we discover more of the joy of His abundant life. I Am the Light of the World   When Jesus declares who He is, we also find what He provides for us.  Jesus was making a bold statement at the end of the Feast of Tabernacles to be the Light of the World.  Jesus was making a declaration of God’s presence, power, wisdom, and truth.  Jesus also said whoever followed Him in His light would be free from darkness.  How does your life change when you are walking in His presence, power, wisdom, and truth?  Do you want a life of freedom?   Click on the links below for additional Cascade Church resources. I Am the Joy of the Word Jesus came to fulfill the law and set us free from sin and death.  Today we see the joy of the Word made real for the adulterous woman.  We all have our moment that we wish we could erase from our life.  A moment that brings shame and sometimes defines our life.  Jesus came to address that moment, not with judgement or shame but grace and joy.   Click on the links below for additional Cascade Church resources. I AM Joy Eternal Jesus shouts out I AM at the culmination of this Feast.  In the midst of the crowded Temple Jesus claims to be the “I AM” of everything symbolized in this great feast.  I am… salvation, forgiveness, restoration, refuge, provision, passion, resolve, wisdom, victory, and renewed fellowship with God my Father!  I am the Joy of Living Waters!  That sounds like something I want to be connected with.  Have you walked away or ignored your well of joy?   Click on the links below for additional Cascade Church resources. Lavished to Live There is no mistaking a sheep that has been anointed. They smell, look, and live anointed. When the shepherd lavishes the anointing oil onto the sheep everything changes in that sheep's life. David paints a beautiful picture of how his life was changed through God's anointing. The good news for us is that our Shepherd wants to lavish us with His love! And that can change everything for our lives. I AM the Only Bread of Life At the end of John 6, we see Jesus make, what some could consider, the greatest leadership mistake of His ministry.  Just the day before, Jesus had over 10,000 Jews cheering for Him to be King.  On the next day, Jesus delivered His most offensive message that turned the majority of them away.  This doesn't seem to be the best choice when it comes to starting a movement.  Or was it?  Jesus made a very exclusive claim.  I AM your only source of satisfaction.  I AM your only source of salvation.  Will you come only to me?  Jesus is looking for followers that are desperate for Him.  How will you respond to His message? I AM Peace for the Fear The more we KNOW Him, the greater we will TRUST Him.  The more we trust Him, the more deeply we will find rest in His abundant life.  It seems so simple doesn’t it?  The less we KNOW Him, the greater anxiety and fear will become in times of need.  We live in a time where fear and anxiety is crippling our nation.  We live in a time where knowing who He is should be critical for our lives.  What a gift it is to receive His peace in place of our fear. Walking in Compassion for Abundant Life Jesus offers us abundant life, but the enemy wants us to follow him toward death. We have to follow Jesus to turn from death and find this eternal life. Sanctity of Life is not a political or social issue, it has always been about finding abundant life. If we are to follow Jesus' example we can not just hold a political opinion, we must follow His example and walk with those who are in need. We must walk with them for their abundant life. Created for Abundant Life The debates over abortion are national, political, and all over our society.  But for those who follow Jesus, it is not a political or social issue. It is central to theology, pervasive in scripture, and reflective of the life of Jesus.  God is the creator of life that is made for Him and for His purposes. Abortion deny's all of this.  We are called to follow in Jesus' example and hold to truth while we demonstrate grace and compassion.  We are called to have more than just an opinion.  We are called to step into life and come alongside those who are hurting and walk them into abundant life. For Abundant Life Jesus makes a bold and clear declaration in John chapter 5 that has echoed throughout the centuries.  Jesus stands in the middle of the busy streets of Jerusalem on the most crowded day to declare “I am the Son of God that has come to give LIFE”.  The message that led Jesus to His death on the cross leads us to life! You Just Barely Missed Him “Close only counts with horseshoes and grenades” is something I heard my Dad say a million times.  In this passage in John we see a man almost miss finding Jesus.  And we see examples of people who were close, but “just missed” finding Jesus.  What are the things that distract us from finding the true source of living water and eternal life?
