Advent is a season of waiting and expectation. We await the Lord to come down and free us from our sins. More than anything we await the day that Jesus will come in glory to gather us into the Kingdom of His Father.

Jesus, our King, identified Hiself with the poor and with those in need. Acclaiming His as our King, means imitation him by serving those who are in need. To the extent that we recognize Him and serve Him in those in need, we can hope to be gathered into the Kingdom of Heaven.

God's gifts to us are meant to be used for the spread of His Kingdom. How do I treasure His greatest gift - the Mass? Do I assist in a way that opens me to the grace God wants to give?

The Scriptural readings for today may easily be used in our personal prayer. They provide an way to model using the scriptures for our personal prayers.
