Early in the Apostle Paul's letter to the church at Colossae he mentions that he prays for the church and its members and then describes how he prays for them and gives us a perfect example of how each one of us can pray for our family members, friends and other Christians. One of the factors that can lead to a Christian growing complacent and comfortable in their relationship with God is our failure to remember just what it was that God did in us, for us, and through us when we accepted His offer of redemption through Jesus Christ.  The Dangers of a complacent and comfortable church are self-evident all around us in what we see happening in the American church today. The same was true in the early church of Colossae. As the Apostle Paul introduces his letter to that church (and to its present-day counterpart) he couches his language in Thanksgiving as a rhetorical device to call them to remember all that Jesus had done for them and by doing so, allows them to reflect on the transformative power of Faith, Love , Hope and the Word of God to reignite their passion to grow and serve, as well as standing up to the false teachings in their midst. How do we define successful parenting? What does the Apostle Paul mean when he called the husband the head of the household in Ephesians 5:23? While many today might think of this recommendation as being "out of tough" with our modern senses, what Paul is suggesting here is actually foundational to a healthy spiritual marriage and offers an opportunity for both the husband and wife to bring their best to a relationship. Jude closes his letter with an interesting doxology that incorporates the security of the believer as one of the reasons that Christians should give worship, honor and praise to God. After attacking false teachers and teaching for a majority of the letter; why would Jude close with this very important promise to Christians? In verse 20 of Jude's letter, the author returns to his original admonition from verse 3 for Christians to "Contend for the Faith" by now giving some suggestion for how can do it in a practical sense. We examine those suggestions as well as discuss how that fit into our greater assignment to follow the great commission. It is easy to be overwhelmed by what is happening to our nation and the changes in our culture before you ever address the false teaching and worldly philosophies that are creeping into the church; so, what are Christians to do?
