  • S8|E39 The Future of Wireless

    26/09/2021

5G and Wi-Fi 6, the next generation of mobile wireless technologies are here! But what does that mean? Where and how is 5G being deployed? What is Wi-Fi 6? Who’s on first? What’s on second?   There are a myriad of questions about the next generation of wireless connectivity, from what it will look like, to how it will be used, to the experiences it enables. The future of wireless connectivity with 5G and Wi-Fi 6 is much more than enhancing the consumer experience, it is poised to reshape industries.  Unlike the previous generations of mobile technology that brought us voice, added data, shared multimedia, 5G’s true impact will be the scale at which it enables innovative new applications. Much of 5G will be invisible to the average consumer, working in the background, in factories and fields, in vehicles and sensors, in machines and monitors. And 5G won’t be doing this alone, Wi-Fi will continue to play a critical role.   In this episode of Cisco Champion Radio we’ll discuss the current state of 5G, the archit

  • S8|E38: The Predictive Internet

    19/09/2021

Adding learning capabilities to the internet will increase the overall network SLO and application experience. Real data driven experiments have shown that such an approach will complement the reactive approach that has governed the internet for the past four decades. Various statistical and ML driven models have shown the possibility to predict future events and take proactive actions for short-term and long-term predictions with high accuracy, avoiding a high number of failures that would significantly impact user experience.  Tune in to this episode to learn more about the path towards a predictive internet and how—coupled with autonomous networks (i.e., self-learning/healing networks)—this approach could be one of the most impactful technologies for the internet. • S8|E34 Ransomware and Cisco Zero-Trust Networking

    22/08/2021

Nearly every day we can read about “ransomware” holding another organization’s data hostage, shutting their operations down, or disrupting their supply chain. Commercial enterprises, major utilities, large healthcare providers, processing facilities—even small businesses aren’t safe from being the target of these attacks. The key to preventing your organization from falling prey to ransomware is to keep several steps ahead of hackers. In many cases, the tools you need to protect your data are already available in your network. With the recent introduction of Continuous Trusted Access and the new Cisco Trust Analytics you can now secure your network from several potential attack vectors. Trust Analytics is part of Cisco SD-Access, Cisco’s best-of-breed Zero Trust solution for the workplace. Trust Analytics detects traffic from endpoints that are exhibiting unusual behavior by pretending to be trusted endpoints using MAC Spoofing, Probe Spoofing, or Man-in-the-Middle techniques. • S8|E33 Reimagine Stadium Wi-Fi with the Cisco Catalyst 9104

    16/08/2021

Stadium Wi-Fi aims to deliver an exceptional and seamless experience to tens of thousands of fans, who often push the Wi-Fi deployment to its limits. While previously, performance was enhanced through software, Cisco’s design team took a different approach. They went back to the basics and reworked the antennas. Ultimately, this led to tightening the beam width and reducing side lobes to make the unit software configurable and steerable. This made it possible to increase the distance between the AP and the device. Tune in to this episode to hear Cisco Champions and Distinguished Engineer Matt Swartz discuss the Cisco Catalyst 9104, how it helps customers reimagine stadium Wi-Fi and other use cases. • S8|E21 Simple Steps to SD-Access Adoption

    24/05/2021

In this podcast, we discuss recent features, enhancements, and deployment strategies for Cisco SD-Access.   New features have enabled additional ways to evolve an existing network into a modern, automated, and secure SD-Access network in gradual steps that minimize disruption to business or users. Network Administrators can choose their starting point in the network evolution journey depending on the status of their existing network and decide their destination based on their business needs, adding benefits at each step along the way.    New segmentation capabilities and deployment flexibility have enhanced SD-Access to support Layer 2 switched access networks as a migration step in the journey.   New features also enable use cases that allow flexible routing of traffic from Layer 2 access networks to destinations outside the fabric. This is very useful in multitenant networks.   We also discuss the deep visibility that SD-Access features such as AI Endpoint Analytics and Group Based Policy Analytics bring th
