In this episode Zach is first joined by Dr. Lorry Belhumeur, a licensed psychologist, serving as CEO at Western Youth Services for over 19 years. Zach and Dr. Belhumeur discuss Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and their impact on addiction later in life, as well as the importance of treating past trauma. Following Dr. Belhumeur, Zach speaks with Melissa Atlas, the Clinical Supervisor at Franciscan Outpatient Behavioral Health in Indiana and a contractor for ICAADA/MHAI. The two discuss her experience with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in the field of recovery, and the different mentalities when it comes to an abstinence-only recovery program and an MAT recovery program.
