Bria Royal is a multidisciplinary artist from the west side of Chicago whose brain is hardwired in such a way that necessitates art and visual aesthetics as a mode for making meaning out of the world around her. She considers her paintings, comics, and animations to be the result of a radical healing process that she hopes others will benefit from seeing unfold, and an attempt to construct intersectionally black and indigenous mythologies for ourselves and our future liberated descendants. Much of her work centralizes black and brown womxn and femmes as identities in constant solidarity with the elements of our natural world due to parallel experiences of exploitation and resistance. bria is also a 2016 graduate of Northwestern University, where she studied Communications, Film and Psychology, and she uses those fields to guide her approach toward creative modes of storytelling through technological innovation. bria currently works for the youth media production organization Free Spirit Media curating opportu
