Acanthrophis is a blackened death metal band who formed in Milwaukee in spring of 2016 with the hopes of recreating and progressing upon the approach of ’90s bands like Dissection, Naglfar and God Dethroned. While modern takes on extreme metal have gone a more abstract route, Acanthrophis seeks to return to the use of melodic structures to thematically express their take on black and death metal through complex yet dynamically concise songwriting. Debut EP Twilight of the Vanquisher’s Reign was released in July of 2016.
