Ringo, meaning Apple in Japanese, comes from the manner in which she would brush bright red like an apple when she was in front of people. Her first official song, "Koufukuron" ("Happiness Theory") was released May 1998, when she was 19 years old. In 1999 she became famous from her single "Koko de Kiss Shite" which broke the top 10 on Oricon charts. Beside her work as a solo singer, she has produced many songs for other artists such as Rie Tomosaka, Tokio, Puffy.
