Sinopsis
In this program, LGBTQ youth are connected to gay history through a discussion with Christopher Z. Hobson, a gay elder. On this edition, our guest is Christopher Z. Hobson, a gay elder, talking about what it was like to be a gay teenager in the 1950s, surviving psychotherapy, joining the movement, becoming an activist, and passing down gay history. Chris's mother was the author Laura Z. Hobson, who wrote the novel Gentleman's Agreement (about antisemitism in the years following World War II and made into an Oscar-winning film in the late 1940s). She later wrote the novel Consenting Adult, about a son coming out to his parents, told mainly from the mother's point of view. Laura loosely based the character of the son in the novel on her real son -- Chris.
