Dr. Fidele Sebahizi grew up in a poor African village and survived an ethnically-motivated massacre in a United Nations refugee camp in Gatumba, Burundi. Overcoming tremendous life obstacles as an immigrant in the United States, Fidele achieved the American Dream. A Groundbreaking Career in Law Enforcement Fidele became the first immigrant to join and work for the Abilene Police Department (APD) in Texas as a police officer. He also made history as the first member of the Banyamulenge ethnic group in the United States to serve the American community in this capacity.
