A Interview with An English Witch… Courtesy of WITCHES AND PAGANS  Patricia Claire Dawson was born in Sheffield, England on October 14th, 1927. During World War II, she studied drama and voice production and entertained service men in two plays sponsored by the British government. In 1956, she met professional stage magician, ventriloquist, and puppeteer Arnold Crowther (an old friend of Gerald Gardner). Gerald Gardner initiated Patricia into the Craft of the Wise on the 6th of June, 1960. She then initiated Arnold with directions from Gerald. Patricia and Arnold were hand fasted by Gerald on November 8, 1960, with a civil ceremony in Sheffield the next day. Patricia and Arnold Crowther established the Sheffield Coven in December of 1961. In 1962, hereditary Scottish witch Jean MacDonald wrote to Patricia after seeing her in a television program.
