In 2014, Jamila founded Life in Mombasa, which is an award winning lifestyle blog for those exploring Mombasa history, culture and modern day life. The aim of the blog is to change the face of Mombasa, to show the different types of culture through photography and written articles. We can read from fancy books or magazines, but seeing Mombasa through a local resident is when you get the real essence of the city. She is the winner of the Best County Blog in the Blogger Association of Kenya (BAKE) Awards 2016, 2017 and 2018. She also has been recognized as an African Voice showcasing Mombasa - The creative artist capturing 'Life In Mombasa' on CNNAfrica.
