Some of today's top storiesbreaking news from overnight. Another pedestrian is dead this morning following a hit-and-run crash.It happened around 9-30 at the intersection of Columbus and Rice Street. When officers arrived... they say they found a man dead in the middle of the road. The driver involved in the crash had already fled. Investigators say the man was hit in an "unmarked crosswalk." An investigation continues this morning. By our count... this was 9-th pedestrian fatality in Kern County so far this year. Last year, there were 54.An apparent stabbing has left a man dead in east Bakersfield. It happened around 7:30 on Haley and Columbus Streets, near the Social Security Administration office. According to at least one witness, a man was stabbed. Emergency crews could be seen performing chest compressions on the victim for close to an hour. An ambulance that was called to the scene left without the victim. We're still waiting to hear back from police this morning. a d
