Decoding Purpose

I think it is fair to say that 2019 is the year of purpose and everybody is talking about it. It started with Larry Fink - the CEO of Black Rock Management, writing a letter to Black Rocks CEO network about purpose. Only a few weeks ago the Business RoundTable in Washington announced the release of a new statement on the purpose of the corporation signed by 181 CEOs who committed to lead their companies for the benefit of all stakeholders - customers, employees, suppliers, communities and shareholders.This is an exciting time in business, and the conversation about the significance of purpose has hit the ground running. That said, the essential thing in this time of change is that leaders do more than talk about purpose.
