Hannah in the Old Testament wasn't able to have children while Ephraim's other wife was able to. But when she was in her darkest hour, she leaned on God and refused to be discouraged. She proved that devoted prayer can be powerful. What's more, she was a woman of her word - when she finally did have a child, she gave him away because that was what she promised to God.
