We were grateful to have Mayor Todd Barton of Crawfordsville join us for a discussion about the relationship between the city and agriculture. 

For this bonus episode Matthew Bane spoke with Bane-Welker employee, Tyler Wilson, and a professor from Ivy Tech, Brock Dahlin about a tour Mr. Dahlin's class took through Bane-Welker, Crawfordsville. Some good information came up about how to be a dual-enrollment student and how someone can apply for a position at Bane-Welker Equipment. 

Chris Eppley of Bane-Welker Equipment joined us this time around to discuss the upcoming demonstrations available to farmers. Along with Jason, Phil, and Matthew, Chris discussed what the spring, summer, and fall demo plans look like, as well as a host of other related topics.

In this episode, Phil Bane recalls the 1980's farming crisis from his vantage point at the time as a Bane Equipment Sales employee. During the crisis, Case bought out International Harvester, making the brand what it is today--Case IH. Phil discusses how this buyout affected Bane Equipment Sales and how, combined with the economic hardship, the 80's proved to be some of the toughest years for the business. 

On this first episode of Plowtalk, Phil and Jason Bane give their advice to young people seeking to enter the agriculture industry. They discuss their own early years, leading into their careers in agriculture. Should the young person go to college? Should they simply stay on the family farm?
