Episode 18: Certain Women Ministered Unto Him
22/03/2019 Duración: 05minIn a few different places in his account, Luke refers to "certain women." These women were mentioned specifically, and often mentioned in connection with the Savior and the Twelve. In today's episode we'll discuss the qualities that these sisters possessed, and what we can learn from them to apply in our own lives. We'll also get some insights from Linda K. Burton and Gordon B. Hinckley. Questions: 1. In what ways did these "certain women" minister unto the Savior? 2. What characteristics do you think they possessed that made them so dear to the Savior and led to them being mentioned specifically in Luke's account? Episode 17: The Kingdom of Heaven is Like Unto...
21/03/2019 Duración: 06minThe Savior often taught in parables, and He was able to teach SO MUCH through these simple stories. There are many benefits to the Savior teaching this way, including the same story having many applications and lessons, as well as the ability to have every day experiences and objects remind us of gospel principles, and ultimately, of the Savior Himself. We'll dig into what Joseph Smith said about the Savior's parable, as well as talk about a simple game you can play today with your family to use the power of parables in your own life! Questions: 1. What other applications can you discover for yourself in the Savior's parables? Episode 16: Let Both Grow Together
20/03/2019 Duración: 06minMy experience growing up on a dry land wheat farm and having to pull wild oats so that they wouldn't contaminate the wheat crop helped me better appreciate the Savior's parable of the wheat and the tares. In today's episode, we're going to dig into that parable. We'll also draw upon the Savior's explanation of this parable from Doctrine and Covenants, as well as the thoughts of a modern day apostle regarding the parable. Questions: 1. Why would the Lord allow the tares to remain with the wheat? 2. What does this teach us about remaining faithful in spite of the wickedness we encounter in the world? Episode 15: Many Have Desired To See
19/03/2019 Duración: 08minIt is normal for us as mortals to take for granted the things that we see, hear and experience. No where is that more evident than when it comes to the restoration of the gospel and the fulness of times! We live in an amazing time of the world! In today's episode we'll focus in on a couple verses in Matthew 13 that are often looked over, but are powerful! And then we'll dig into the true significance of the restoration of the gospel in YOUR life. Questions: 1. Episode 14: Seek To Be Firmly Rooted
18/03/2019 Duración: 06minOne of the Savior's most well known parables is the parable of the sower, which, could just have easily been called the parable of the types of soil. What can this parable, and the 4 types of soil that Christ mentioned in it, teach us about hearing and following the word of God? That's what we'll be digging into in this episode. Questions: 1. What can you do to ensure that you cultivate good ground in your life? 2. What are some things that could be "thorns" that keep you from hearing and following the word of God? Episode 13: The Sabbath Was Made for Man
15/03/2019 Duración: 04minIt is so easy to get caught up in the minutia of the Sabbath day... What we should do, or shouldn't do... What we can, or can't do... And we're not alone in this nit-picking. The Pharisees in Christ's day were the same way! Except, they went so far as to accuse Jesus himself of breaking the sabbath! Can you imagine? Accusing the Lord of the Sabbath of breaking it?? In this episode we'll look at some of what the Savior taught about the Sabbath and then consider some ways that we can follow His teachings. Questions: 1. What are some ways you can "do well" on the Sabbath? 2. What do you think Christ means by the statement, "The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath?" 3. How can you honor the sabbath this week? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/everydayconversion/support

Episode 12: For She Loved Much
14/03/2019 Duración: 04minAs we discussed in Episode 11, Jesus Christ invites us to take upon ourselves HIS yoke so He can lighten our burdens. One of the ways the Savior does this is by inviting us to repent, and then forgiving our sins. This is a extremely personal and sacred experience, and one that leads to an increase in love toward the Savior. In today's episode, we'll explore this correlation between being forgiven and developing an increase of love. Questions: 1. How can we be like the woman in Luke 7 and show humility and love for the Savior? 2. How has your love for the Savior increased as He has forgiven your sins? Episode 11: My Yoke is Easy
13/03/2019 Duración: 04minSometimes life is hard. We ALL carry burdens. Sometimes they are because of our own choices and mistakes, sometimes they are because of the choices or mistakes of others. And sometimes, they're just a part of life. However, regardless of the trial, challenge or burden, there is one overarching solution. Jesus Christ and His atonement. Christ states that his yoke is easy and his burden is light. We'll learn and ponder more about what that means in today's episode. Here are today's questions: 1. Why would Jesus use the example of a "yoke" in Matthew 11:28-30? 2. How has Jesus given you rest in your life? 3. What comfort or strength have you experienced because of, and through, Jesus Christ and His Atonement? Episode 10: Preparation is Prerequisite to Inspiration
12/03/2019 Duración: 05minOften we get questions about our faith and beliefs from friends, family and acquaintances. Most times, these questions are well intentioned...other times, not so much. Either way, if you're like me, you worry about being able to answer these questions adequately or correctly. In today's episode, we'll discuss the Savior's counsel for responding to questions, as well as what a latter-day apostle says. Here are the questions from this episode: 1. How can you ensure that you will be prepared to answer the questions you are asked about your faith and beliefs? 2. What role does gospel study play in being able to answer tough, and even combative questions? 3. How can bearing your testimony in such situations be helpful and beneficial? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/everydayconversion/support

Episode 9: He Gave Them Power
11/03/2019 Duración: 05minAfter Christ called and ordained his apostles, he gave them power to perform their callings, as well as counsel for how to be successful. While this counsel was specifically given to the original Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, there is much we can learn about fulfilling OUR callings from the counsel they received. Today, we'll discuss those things. Questions: 1. How do you see the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles today fulfilling this counsel? 2. What has Heavenly Father asked YOU to do? 3. How can you access His power to do those things you have been asked to do? For bonus points, send a text or write a letter to your bishop or stake president today and tell them how much you appreciate what they do for their ward or stake...they'll REALLY appreciate it, I promise! :) Get all the resources and references mentioned in this episode at https://www.everydayconversion.com/009 --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/everydayconversion/support

Episode 8: Be of Good Cheer
