  • Comics With Kenobi #72 -- Bors, Spores and So Much More

    31/07/2018 Duración: 58min

We're so deep in smit with Doctor Aphra right now it's not even funny. The latest issue, #22, found Jeff and Matt enjoying the rollicking tale, despite the awkwardness of having not one but two lovers show up! The same with Lando: Double or Nothing #3, which is proving to be a worthwhile addition to Lando's long history and is required reading.Did we mention that the latest A Star Wars Comic hit us in the feels? Listen to find out why as we discuss Jim Mello and Alex Ray's latest creation and wonder aloud why these two aren't writing and drawing Star Wars comics for Marvel or IDW. (Seriously, c'mon. Give 'em a book. Now.)We also dive deep into the Star Wars comics news at SDCC.This week's Star Wars comics include:The Last Jedi adaptation #5Star Wars #52Stay in touch and up to date by following us on Twitter and Facebook.Like what you hear? • Comics With Kenobi #71 -- Woe Is Poe, Han's Got Flow and Vader's Gonna Blow

    24/07/2018 Duración: 01h13min

The woes of Poe are compounded by Black Squadron's inability to rally allies to the cause in this, their most desperate hour in the pages of Poe Dameron #29, while Han Solo proves his mettle, skill and pluck as the best pilot in the Galaxy in Star Wars #51 in what portends to be a head-to-head duel with Darth Vader. Finally, in the pages of Darth Vader Annual #2, writer Chuck Wendig weaves associated elements of Star Wars lore from film and the printed page to tell an engaging, if not spirited, whodunit that further cements the oddly balanced relationship and mutual non-aggression pact that is Wilhuff Tarkin and the Dark Lord of the Sith. This week's Star Wars comics include:Doctor Aphra #22Lando: Double or Nothing #3Star Wars Adventures #12A Star Wars Comic #16Stay in touch and up to date by following us on Twitter and Facebook.Like what you hear? • Comics With Kenobi #70 -- The Hunted Was Always Hunting the Hunter

    17/07/2018 Duración: 01h06min

This time it's really Episode #70 and we've got a spirited discussion about Thrawn #6 and whether it should have been six more issues. We're also talking about Darth Vader #18, predicting it may well be the next Star Wars comic to garner an Eisner nomination.Jeff and Matt also wax rhapsodic about what sort of Star Wars comics announcements could come out of San Diego Comic Con this week.A Clone Wars series? The Solo: A Star Wars Story official comics adaptation? Maybe a tie-in to this fall's Star Wars Resistance? How about an Enfys Nest-focused monthly? If you're headed to San Diego Comic Con, enjoy, bring snacks and bottled water. • Comics With Kenobi #69 -- Hope Is a Four-Letter Word

    10/07/2018 Duración: 01h32min

There's a sublime yet stellar feeling through out the milestone Star Wars #50 as readers' notions of hope, and all that word portends, takes a sinister turn.In the pages of The Last Jedi Adaptation #4, we're entranced with how the creative team has added some complex context to that film's story without detracting from the action in the slightest. We're also keenly interested in how Poe Dameron's actions in The Last Jedi film will play out during his mock court-martial at San Diego Comic Con on July 20 when The Legal Geeks mount a vigorous case against the hot-shot pilot and Black Squadron leader for his mutinous actions against the Resistance during its escape from the First Order.Legal Geeks' Josh Gilliland explains how the court-martial came about, what to expect and more about the law in Star Wars, not to mention whether Doctor Aphra is running afoul of galactic law with her, ahem, acquisition of rare artifacts! Also, we say it's episode #70, but it's episode #69. This saves you from Jeff's snickering. You'

  • Comics With Kenobi #68 -- Evil Is as Evil Does or Who Let the Droids Out?

    03/07/2018 Duración: 48min

There's a sense of wonder and mystery among this week's Star Wars comics -- Lando: Double or Nothing #2 and Doctor Aphra #21 -- as their namesake characters live up to their reputations in all the right, and wrong, ways. We're also giving shout outs to those of you who so kindly share your digital codes so that we can offer them up on the Twitter feed. Sharing is caring and y'all care so much! Finally, be grateful we don't do this podcast as a video. It was so hot when we were recording, we may have been topless. • Comics With Kenobi #67 -- When Droids Gather, Stories Will Be Told

    26/06/2018 Duración: 34min

It's as if thousands of voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. Well, not so much silenced as they learned that Marvel's Star Wars: Poe Dameron series ends its run in September with issue 31, bringing the title that debuted in April 2016 to its conclusion. As fate would have it, Poe Dameron #28 is the topic du jour of this week's episode -- Hey! Thanks, fortuitous timing! -- and if "The Awakening, Part III" is any indication of how the series will end, it's in very good hands. This week's Star Wars comics include:Doctor Aphra #21Lando: Double or Nothing #2Stay in touch and up to date by following us on Twitter and Facebook.Like what you hear? • Comics With Kenobi #66 -- Who Ordered the Blackened Fish?

    19/06/2018 Duración: 39min

A darkly disturbing yet satisfying end to the "Mutiny at Mon Cala" story arc in the pages of Darth Vader leaves Jeff and Matt in a reflective mood, while the appearance of Nightswan -- again! -- has them wishing Thrawn was more than six issues long. Also of note is the belated news that Doctor Aphra is getting the exclusive treatment at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, coming as a 3.75" figure and joined by Triple Zero and BT-1. Plans for her individual action figure are still on, too.Excited about the upcoming Star Wars: Jedi -- Fallen Order game? We are, too, but keep a close eye on Darth Vader Vol. 2 for some potential hints. This week's Star Wars comics include:Poe Dameron #28Star Wars Adventures, Vol. 3, "Endangered," collecting issues 6-8Stay in touch and up to date by following us on Twitter and Facebook.Like what you hear? 12/06/2018 Duración: 49min

The Empire's hosting a fish fry and everyone is invited, especially if you're part of the Rebel Alliance (and, likely, a traitor, too!).Such is the discussion of Star Wars #49, a fitting, if not startling, end to the "Mutiny of Mon Cala" arc that sets the next story, "Hope Dies" in issue #50 of Marvel's flagship monthly Star Wars title. Meanwhile, in The Last Jedi Adaptation #3, readers are on the receiving end of some important character development courtesy not just of Luke, but Reylo, too. This week's Star Wars comics include:Thrawn #5Darth Vader #17Stay in touch and up to date by following us on Twitter and Facebook.Like what you hear? • Comics With Kenobi #64 -- No Droids Were Harmed in This Podcast

    05/06/2018 Duración: 41min

Suave, shifty and morally ambiguous, Lando Calrissian is a complex character. Writer Rodney Barnes, whose eight-issue run of Falcon raised the bar, captures the essence and flair of the self-described scoundrel in Marvel's latest Star Wars comics mini series: Lando: Double or Nothing.Join us as we break down the first of this five-issue series, which is off to a stellar start in every conceivable way, ensuring that we are steadfast "Lando 4 Life."Join us as we break down the first of this five-issue series, which is off to a stellar start in every conceivable way, ensuring that we are steadfast "Lando 4 Life."This week's Star Wars comics include:Star Wars #49Star Wars: The Last Jedi Adaptation #3Star Wars Adventures #11Stay in touch and up to date by following us on Twitter and Facebook.Like what you hear? • Comics With Kenobi #58 -- Like a Bridge Over Star Wars Waters

    24/04/2018 Duración: 57min

We're building the bridges when it comes to Star Wars movies, comics and books, too, speaking with writer Cavan Scott and delving deep into a new story arc in Marvel's superb Poe Dameron series. From The Force Awakens to The Last Jedi in Poe Dameron #26 to news that Star Wars will begin to cross from A New Hope to The Empire Strikes Back starting with issue #50, there's no chasm deep enough to preclude our -- and your -- crossing.Speaking of crossing vast gulfs, writer Cavan Scott joins us for a chat about why he strived, successfully, to bring Jaxxon and Amaiza back into canon, too.Like you, he's a fan of the Star Wars Saga and is among those now contributing to it through his novels (Choose Your Destiny: Han and Chewie Adventure and four volumes of Adventures in Wild Space, including The Escape, The Snare, The Steal and The Cold) as well as comics (Star Wars Adventures) and, we hope, much more to come in the next few months. The new Star Wars comics out this week include:_ Darth Vader #15_ Doctor Aphra #19_ S

  • Comics With Kenobi #57 -- OK, Who Left the Water Running?

    17/04/2018 Duración: 01h04min

All it takes is a spark to light a Rebellion, but a tidal wave goes a long way, too. Such was the lesson learned from Darth Vader #14, while in Thrawn #3, readers learned up close and personal how to succeed in politics when you don't mind leaving behind a trail of human wreckage.Looking ahead? We're excited about what Rodney Barnes told CBR.com about his writing next month's Star Wars: Lando -- Double or Nothing mini series, which sets up the character nicely ahead of his appearance in the Solo: A Star Wars Story film. The new Star Wars comics out this week include:_ Poe Dameron #26_ Star Wars Adventures #9_ Star Wars Adventures 2018 Annual

We learned something new about Star Wars from this past week's comics: Everybody poops. The Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer came out just before we began recording. Our thoughts? "I've got a good feeling about this."We had good feelings about Star Wars #46 and A Star Wars Comic #14, too.March's Star Wars comics orders, they weren't so low, either, with Star Wars 44 ranked No. 14 on Diamond's Top 100 orders for March, followed by issue 45 at 17 and Darth Vader 13 at No. 18. Doctor Aphra 18 came in at No. 59 and was followed by Poe Dameron 25 at No. 88.Speaking of Darth Vader and Poe Dameron, those series' writer, Charles Soule, has his first novel out now.
