This week the team get into game delays and Final Fantasy 7 Remake actually releasing in the UK a whole week early. This leads to discussing the working culture of game devs and strangely John Wick. Aadil is annoyed at the Epic Games Store whilst Ben has been playing Mutazione and A Short Hike through it. Lucy lets us know her thoughts on both Ori and the Will of the Wisps and Doom Eternal. It’s the end of the world as we know it and we’re all drinking. Aadil, Ben and Lucy get together to discuss a plethora of topics whilst supping 9 beers between them. I will cut to the chase, should you buy Doom Eternal? Yes, the game is insane. It is a love letter to the old school whilst adhering to modern conventions. The mixture results in something that feels familiar yet unique. This review will only cover the single-player portion of the game as at the time of writing the multiplayer servers are not live. That being said let’s begin. The story. This element of Doom Eternal whilst serving as a sequel to Doom 2016 is largely accessible as a stand-alone entry. With the world resembling that of The Division we’re all in need of a beer. Lucy chats about Hidden Through Time, Ibb & Obb, Death and Taxes and touches a little on House Flipper. Everyone has played the preview version of Filament an upcoming puzzle game and Aadil has jumped into the Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo. Its episode 200! Lucy came down to Bristol and we went on a bit of a pub crawl. First stop was the Left-Handed Giant brewpub. We spoke about Space Harrier, All of the Dooms (and mods), backwards compatibility and nostalgia, franchise vs beer naming, Dreams and asset stores, and the best TMNT games and turtle. Ben and Lucy get together to discuss more game delays, Frog Detective 2: The case of the invisible wizard, LA Noire and Rockstar, the top ten selling games of 2019 and Death Stranding. Ben drinks American Pale from Gloucester Brewery and Big Cat Stout from Stroud Brewery.

The gang return to chat Lucy’s time with Super Crush KO, game preservation, Ben’s time with Jedi Fallen Order and the recent delay to Final Fantasy 7 remake. Yes, we recorded before the Cyberpunk 2077 delay but we do predict it. Ben and Aadil are drinking this week with beers from Burning Sky, Burnt Mill and a North Brewing Co X Beerbliotek collaboration.

Aadil and Ben are joined by former OutofLiveser Lauren Aitken now of VG24/7 for beers, our most anticipated games of 2020 and what we’d like to see change in the industry moving forward. As a continuation from episode 191 the gang kept drinking and moved on to discuss their favourite games and genres of the decade. The drinking continued too with Aadil having beers from Unity and Good Chemistry, Lucy sinking back North Brewing Co and a Whiplash X Pig’s Ear collab and Ben finishing on one from Polly’s and another from Odyssey.
