Episodios
-
4500/060: Rocking Back and Forth
08/01/2018 Duración: 01minI finally have access to a guitar again, so I got down with a darker slow jam, accompanied by granulated highs, and some strums glitched out sigh Shaper.
-
4500/059: Floater
07/01/2018 Duración: 01minAn experiment in blind recording, inspired by listening to @ioflow talk about his process on the lines sound and process podcast.
-
4500/058: Particulate
06/01/2018 Duración: 01minI was shooting for something a bit more sparse today. Started with a very slow Rozeta Particle Generator blasting midi into iSEM, accompanied by some granular noise, a bit of bass, and a bit of strings low in the mix. There wasn’t a particular meaning or inspiration. Sometimes noise is just noise.
-
4500/057: Naked Hat and Socks
06/01/2018 Duración: 01minKeeping it simple with a granular loop. Zone out for the weekend.
-
4500/056: A word from our sponsor
04/01/2018 Duración: 48sbut we haven’t got a sponsor... This is a deliberately ballady pop number, inspired by a request from my friend Sean to take a shot at producing a pop track. This is what came out after an hour or so of nosing around GarageBand on my iPad.
-
4500/055: tired eyes
03/01/2018 Duración: 53sMost of these tracks have been made towards the end of the day. Today, I flipped that approach a bit. After waking up early from jetlag, I decided to jump straight into a song, before even really getting up, and before even having coffee. The result is mellow and has a space to it that I’ve been trying to find with some of the noisier pieces. It took about an hour to track, and then another half hour to tweak the mix.
-
4500/054: Relapse
02/01/2018 Duración: 55sI fell off the bandwagon for a couple of days, partially due to travel (and some serious flight delays), and partly due to heavy partying on New Year’s Eve. The original thought behind this one was to come back in a sort of minimal, kraut-rocky vein, but I think I missed the mark on the latter half of that. I’ll be able to devote a bit more attention and care once the jetlag wears off.
-
4500/053: Moonshine
30/12/2017 Duración: 47sA further distillation of some of the guitar recordings I made yesterday, barrel aged through Borderlands.
-
4500/052: Rye Mash
29/12/2017 Duración: 02minWe visited a distillery today and had a tasting, with a lesson about old still pots. For this piece, I took a few guitar loops, and kept the distillation process in mind while preparing the loops in iDensity.
-
4500/051: The Hawk Behind the Table
28/12/2017 Duración: 50sHad a chance to borrow my girlfriend’s dad’s guitar for a bit while visiting for the holidays. Put together this little Folk-inspired, off-time tune to kick off the second half of the project.
-
4500/050: Half and Half
27/12/2017 Duración: 01min50 days in. A melodic line from Ribbons, juxtaposed with granulated drums and high register bells in Borderlands
-
4500/049: Suburban Snow
27/12/2017 Duración: 01minInfinite reverb decay swells up over mellow piano
-
-
4500/047: Icicles
24/12/2017 Duración: 59sCold winter slow jams, with the sound of rain knocking on the window, and deep, rumbling chords.
-
4500/046: Dinner
23/12/2017 Duración: 01minFirst round of Christmas dinner jams, featuring vocal samples from family members, put together in fluxpad.
-
4500/045: Heizung
22/12/2017 Duración: 53sI listened to a lot of Kraftwerk today, and threw this together after a few too many burbons.
-
4500/044: Rings
21/12/2017 Duración: 55sFor the first time in a while, I actually came up with a sound idea before sitting down to play. The inspiration came from watching a documentary of the Cassini mission while on a flight over the Atlantic. 4500/043: Baseless Thrunk
20/12/2017 Duración: 01minAn experiment in process: first finish the drum take, then record the melody take over it. I would have liked to add a bass line, but ran out of time with packing and traveling for the holidays.
-
4500/042: Douglass
19/12/2017 Duración: 58sSome more experimenting with Dot Melody. This time in 7/4
