  • U40: Headed to Morgantown, Sooners trying to impress again

    25/11/2020 Duración: 01h43min

The Unofficial 40 returns for a holiday sized edition and we had plenty to talk about. Josh and Bob finally get to weigh in on Bedlam, we breakdown the win and look ahead to West Virginia. Plenty of talk about the randomness that is Bookie as well. We also talk about the latest on the recruiting front and why things are so different this year in terms of info. Carey might be on the verge of a mental breakdown because of zoom interviews but the news about 'Coonsie' the walking racoon had everyone very excited. There's a lot to digest as we get ready for a big week of Thanksgiving and football, and even basketball as Lon Kruger and the boys get the season started this week as well. The full rundown is below: 0:00 - Carey is sick of Zoom & the North End Zone is the new West Bank 24:00 - Bookie 35:00 - Wrapping up Bedlam with Josh & Bob 50:00 - Recruiting 1:11:20 - Hoops starts Wednesday 1:23:00 - West Virginia ahead; Big 12 undecided and getting interesting

  • U40: Bedlam is a chance to legitimize the OU offense

    18/11/2020 Duración: 01h13min

It's been a two week wait but Bedlam is finally here. Or will it be? The guys give the latest on where things stand with COVID and injuries. Will Austin Stogner be available for OSU? Lincoln Riley says Spencer Rattler is back to 100%. While everyone believes OU's defensive line versus OSU's offensive line is the biggest advantage in this game, can Spencer Rattler finally prove he's taken the next step against a very good OSU defense? This isn't TCU, Texas Tech or Kansas. This will be a real challenge for Lincoln Riley on the OU offense. We're missing Josh this week because he's moving so no big recruiting segment. This one is all about Bedlam. Carey, Eddie and Bob bring it home in this week's Unofficial 40. The full rundown follows below: 00:00 - Hello and welcome 13:54 - What's the injury/COVID situation for Bedlam? 19:30 - Buyer beware in Bedlam? 30:00 - Getting Jadon Haselwood more involved/OU's running game headed in right direction 40:00 - Around the CFB World 58:00 - Hoops tips off next week

  • U40: Bedlam needed this bye week. But OU's DL vs. OSU's OL is a problem

    11/11/2020 Duración: 01h27min

Why do women make men buy new mattresses when they get married? What deep dark secret is Carey Murdock holding that makes his neighborhood hate him? Did Eddie kill his barber? Also, it's a bye week and this week's slate of Big 12 games is not very good. But next week it is on and title matchups could be decided between Iowa State, OU, OSU and Kansas State! It was a little slow on the football front with no football this week, but even though Josh can't stop buying houses and moving, he did give us a breakdown of a recent big-time recruiting trip to St. Louis and might have people concerned about one of OU's biggest defensive line commitments. It's also national signing day for Lon Kruger and OU hoops. Bob kind of joins from the road where he was headed to see Bijan Cortes. The full rundown follows below: 00:00 - Hello and welcome. It's National (Hoops) Signing Day. OU signed Bijan Cortes and CJ Noland. 13:00 - FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL 24:00 - Okay seriously back to football 32:00 - Josh still loves To

  • U40: Perkins and Stevenson add lots of muscle for stretch run

    04/11/2020 Duración: 01h23min

On this week's Unofficial 40 podcast we go back and breakdown how big the addtitions of Ronnie Perkins and Rhamondre Stevenson can be for the Sooners down the final stretch of the season. Is OU in the driver's seat? Maybe not completely. But things are looking up for OU's chances to play in the Big 12 title game. And it appears Spencer Rattler and the OU offense have developed a little bit of swagger coming out of Lubbock. It's been a different type of season, but OU is looking like a complete team for the first time all season and one of the more complete teams we've seen in years if the defense continues to build. The guys have been out on the recruiting trail quite a bit as well. With coaches unable to go out and see kids, we're pretty much all you get from in-person scouting. Josh and Bob talk about their recent trips including a big one coming up for Josh this weekend. It's Kansas week, which means we're drinking more than usual. Well, maybe the elections had something to do with that. The full rundown

  • U40: Looking for a back-to-back defensive gem in Lubbock

    28/10/2020 Duración: 01h30min

On this week's edition of the Unofficial 40 podcast we take a look back at the players standing out most on the defensive side of the ball. Is Isaiah Thomas becoming a legit NFL prospect? And how much has he been hiding some superior athletic ability? We also talk about the upcoming matchup with Texas Tech and the expectations for this OU team. We're all going to be paying attention to see if the defense can put another solid performance on tape. And what could the return of Rhamondre Stevenson mean for OU's running game and the emergence of T.J. Pledger? It might not be such an easy transition for Stevenson and the OU offense. We hit up the recruiting trail and talk about the Sooners newest commitment Tayln Shettron and what we've seen lately out on the high school circuit. And what does the recent decommitment of Caleb Johnson mean for recruiting going forward? Also, what we know on the latest with #FreeThe3 and when is it OK to start putting up your Christmas tree? All this and more on the Unofficial 40.

  • U40: OU has a major chance to take the next step at TCU

The gang is all here after surviving a bye week and we've talked all we can talk about the Texas win. It's time to move on to TCU and the expectations that have been reset coming out of the overtime win over Texas. Can Spencer Rattler keep building chemistry with receivers like Theo Wease, Marvin Mims, Austin Stogner and Drake Stoops? Can the offensive line continue to run the ball effectively even if Rhamondre Stevenson doesn't come back until Texas Tech? Can the defense build off of their emerging playmakers like Perrion Winfrey, Woodi Washington, Nik Bonitto and Isaiah Thomas? And are the Sooners expecting another huge commitment this weekend for Lincoln Riley's offense? We've talked to the players and coaches on both sides of the ball this week, all our media interviews are over. Here's all the latest to get you ready for the Sooners as they get back in action against TCU this weekend. Alex Grinch has a defensive line, but he's starting to find young playmakers in the secondary as well. And can anyone keep David Ugwoegbu from taking over a starting spot on defense? We also hit up recruiting as COVID cancellations are taking a toll on our scouting trips. Some Big 12 talk and plenty of opinions of Lincoln Riley's benching of Spencer Rattler as well. Do you want to get ready for OU to take on Texas? Having trouble getting over the losses and need something to pick you up? Then check in on the Unofficial40 podcast where we have plenty of anger left over and plenty of criticism of the OU football team to cleanse your palette and get you ready to clean the slate for Texas in Dallas. The confounding secondary, the lackadaisical offensive line, we break it all down once more. Which team is more capable of blowing the other out in OU-TX? That's always the question to ask before it starts. But that doesn't always mean that team will win. Also hear from Lincoln Riley on the state of the offensive line and the poor tackling. 30/09/2020 Duración: 01h02min

Carey and Eddie got their licks in on the OU loss to Kansas State on the Eskridge Lexus postgame podcast. Now Josh and Bob get to join in with their impressions of what went wrong. The defense, the offensive line, the quarterback, the running backs, the receivers. Nothing goes without being broken down after the 38-35 loss. Can the Sooners turn things around and fix the problems before taking on Iowa State this weekend? Also, where is Alex Grinch with this defense right now? Are they mentally in the tank? And the turnovers are still unbelievable. At least, the lack of them. We also hit on the commitment of Jalil Farooq as well as the latest scouting trips across the region. We're heading toward another real football game... we think. OU gets set to take on Kansas State in their first Big 12 contest of the 2020 season. Alex Grinch and the defense took center stage as the secondary and the defensive line gets a tougher test this week. We also found out LIncoln Riley was not happy about the extension of the dead period and we wonder what kind of fallout no visits with an early signing period will have over the next year. Transfer central with no restrictions? Alex Grinch talked in detail about Ronnie Perkins and how he's responded to his suspension and we look forward to seeing a lot of faces we missed out on in the opener due to COVID. Plus, lots of recruiting nuggets from Josh and a hoops recruiting update from Bob. The full rundown follows below: 00:00 - Welcome back. We talk about where Oklahoma stands as they prepare for a football season and how much the current positives and quarantines are affecting the team. Also, it's interesting to see the backlash from other fanbases to the Sooner Summit. 12/08/2020 Duración: 01h36min

It has been a crazy few days. Lincoln Riley sent his players home this weekend and we didn't know if they'd ever practice football again in 2020. The Big Ten cancelled their season. The Pac 12 cancelled their season. The Big 12 did not cancel their season. We talk about how all that happened and why it was Riley sent his players home in the first place. Lots of injuries as well. Can spring football even happen? So much has happened and we haven't even gotten to recruiting. Oklahoma high school practices are underway and we'll have you covered there as well. • U40: If you start playing better defense at OU, you start getting paid

    29/07/2020 Duración: 01h28min

Well, last week we got pretty controversial with our takes on the Sooner Summit, or at least the potential of the Sooner Summit. This week, Josh McCuistion joins back in and gives his take on what is fact from fiction. We also breakdown the Caleb Williams factor in recruiting and whether it's fair or not that fans are placing so many expectations on him to sign top players from all over the country. The OU Board of Regents voted for raises for all football assistants this week and Alex Grinch is getting paid like one of the top defensive coordinators in the country. It appears the administration is more than happy with the way SpeedD is starting to develop under Grinch. We also get a little bit of basketball breakdown and we talk about COVID19 and it's affect on playing a season. College football and the NFL aren't in a bubble, but they need to live that bubble life if we're going to play an entire season. Just look at those idiot Marlins for proof. The full rundown follows below: 00:00 - Hello and welcome

  • U40: OU's COVID numbers so good Texas probably thinks they cheat

    23/07/2020 Duración: 01h11min

Eddie, Bob and Josh went to Durant over the weekend to take in one of the best football camps of the summer with some of the best local talent around. They breakdown their impressions of what they saw (well at least Bob and Eddie who didn't abandon the pod this week) as well as who surprised them the most. We talk about restarting the season and more supervised practices getting underway in Norman. And how are things trickling down from pro to college to high school that are going to make this year different. Army appears to be a no-go for fans this year. We also talk the latest in commitments for the Sooners who had a couple new verbals since our last podcast. How in flux are mid-semester transfers like Isaiah Coe from junior college? We also talk about some of our impressions of early workouts and what the hell? Let's talk some football just like the season is going to be played as advertised. We've got plenty of football talk as well as the state of things at OU with two straight weeks of no new COVID cases. And everyone is coronavirus free for the time being.
