This show will focus on the many challenges and complexities of the opioid epidemic and how it may be impacting different communities in different ways. We'll touch on harm reduction, mental health help, stigma and medicated assisted treatment. Today's guests include, Carl Ellison, president of the Indiana Minority Health Coalition, Stan DeKemper a community advocate and addiction expert with Mental Health America Indiana and Joselyn Whitticker a community leader from Marion, IN.

    A project to rebuild the north split in downtown Indianapolis was announced by INDOT last year. The plans caused concern for a number of local residents and businesses and a coalition formed to urge other options. John Krull will talk to those closest to the project to hear why it's badly needed and the process and also why members of the coalition are not happy with the plans the way they are. Joining the show as guests: Andy Dietrich with INDOT and engineer Seth Schickel. Marsh Davis with Indiana Landmarks and Kevin Osburn a local architect that lives in the neighborhood will also join the show.

    Today, John Krull talks with some of those close to a controversial zoning issue in Carmel. A group of Muslims living in Hamilton County proposed a new mosque at a site in a residential suburb. Residents oppose the project, citing traffic and property value concerns. Mosque organizers have met the objections with scaled back building plans and say the site is ideal for their worship needs. Both parties made their case at a recent well-attended city council meeting (http://bit.ly/2DNkHvP), and a decision could come this month. Our guests will be Adam Aasen, a reporter in Carmel, Ron Carter, a Carmel Councilman, Juvaria Khan, an attorney with Muslim Advocates and Wafa Safi a teacher.
