This week we complete the series Things Hard to be Understood. We learn of Peter’s life and background, and explore two common occupations of his day that reveal deeper biblical truths. The conclusion of 1 Peter exhorts us to choose a lifestyle that may not bring immediate pleasure, but one that will bring an eternal reward that is worth the wait.

This week Gary takes us through 1 Peter chapter 3 and expounds on the concept of submission, specifically for husbands and wives in marriage. We also begin to explore the idea of suffering. Why it is a central idea in Christianity? How does it bring us closer to Christ? What does it produce in us? While this message covers some challenging topics, it also encourages us to persevere as the difficulties we face are not wasted.

Continuing in 2 Peter, Gary builds on previous topics and brings to light a command that is easier said than done…to honor others. He shares several historical accounts of the torture and mistreatment Christians endured, and their steadfast commitment to emulating Jesus' example. This message will be an encouragement to honor everyone, despite their actions or beliefs, because in doing so we will bring glory to God.
