A package of legislation from state Representative Pauline Wendzel intended to bolster development of the nuclear industry in Michigan has been approved by the state House.  Leaders at Benton Harbor's Dial A Ride service are expecting some effects on the bottom line from a crash involving a Dial A ride bus this month.  The city of St. Joseph has formally been granted Certified status as a Redevelopment Ready Community with an award presented by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation this week. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Unit 2 of the Cook nuclear power plant is now back online after a 35-day refueling outage.  The federal government has put out notice that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits will not be distributed on November 1 as the shutdown continues, and food pantries in southwest Michigan are expecting to feel the effects. In today's news: A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the new Corner at Wall Street Apartments in Benton Harbor, a mixed-use housing and commercial development intended to offer supportive services for residents. Nacho, Nacho Mannnnn is a tan and white colored cattle dog mix with a very fun and playful side who can be a bit rambunctious. When he gets outside, he loves to show off his zoomy side in the play yard. Nacho is a big goofball to say the least. He is roughly 2 years old, up to date on his vaccinations and neutered. He came to us earlier in the summer and has been a joy to have, but it's time for him to find a home with a family or even a single human to call his own. He loves his toys and people, but he is not a Velcro dog. He will lean against you while you pet him, but he doesn't overwhelm you by looking for attention. Nacho is a bit shy when it comes to meeting other dogs 'in person', but through the kennel he is quite playful with his neighbors. He has had a variety of neighbors and, so far, hasn't had a poor reaction to any of them. Nacho does need some proper guidance with manners, but overall is very well behaved and potty trained. He just has an excellent, friendly personality. He knows

Meet Balto!!  Balto is an Alaskan Malamute who is around 2 years old. He loves to run and play whenever he can. When he first came to us, he was a hot mess! Standoffish and did not want to socialize, and had mats and burrs covering his body. As soon as he got comfortable and clean, he couldn't get enough of the love! Balto is so cuddly and fluffy, he just lures you in with his charm. He will make a great protector of the home because he knows who’s giving him the love and affection that he craves. Balto is not neutered but is currently up to date with his vaccinations. In today's news: More Berrien County municipalities are taking a look at a potential ballot proposal that could be considered by Michigan voters next year and warning its approval would be a bad idea.
