After losing the Field of Dreams game on Thursday, the Yankees won on both Saturday and Sunday to win the three-game series over the White Sox and finish the 2021 season 5-1 against the AL Central's best. The offense was present in all three games (20 runs scored), but the bullpen continues to be an unknown each day, something it can't be over the remaining 45 games.

After an improbable comeback in the top of the ninth, the Yankees lost the Field of Dreams game to the White Sox 9-8 on a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth. Zack Britton gave up the game-winning home run and took the loss, but the game was lost way before that. It was lost when the Yankees announced Andrew Heaney as the starting pitcher for the game.

The Yankees will play the White Sox this weekend without the following players and pitchers: Gary Sanchez, Anthony Rizzo, Gleyber Torres, Gio Urshela, Gerrit Cole, Jordan Montgomery, Domingo German, Aroldis Chapman and Clay Holmes. Aaron Hicks is out for the season, Luis Severino is still on his way back from Tommy John surgery and Corey Kluber hasn't started a game in nearly three months. If the Yankees were to get in the postseason and ever get healthy, they would have the best roster in the playoffs. The Yankees won another game against a bad team, beating the Royals 8-6 in 11 innings on Monday. It shouldn’t be this hard to beat the Marlins, Orioles, Mariners and Royals, but the Yankees’ lack of offense combined with their bullpen meltdowns and managerial blunders are forcing every game to be a one- or two-run game.

Another game for the post-trade deadline Yankees and another win. The Yankees are now 6-1 since trading for Joey Gallo and Anthony Rizzo, and after Rizzo carried the team to a sweep in Miami, Gallo hit his first Yankees home run, a go-ahead, three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning on Thursday night. These Yankees are fun, but the winning can't stop, especially with a big weekend ahead.

The Yankees beat the Orioles in back-to-back games, won the three-game series and even scored double-digit runs two nights in a row. You could look at as the Yankees are finally playing up to their potential (12-6 since the All-Star break), winning as a result of their trade deadline acquisitions (5-1 since the deadline) or just beating up on bad teams (having won five of six against the Marlins and Orioles). Whatever it is, the Yankees are winning.

The Yankees finally won a laugher, scoring double-digit runs for just the fourth time in 106 games and winning their fourth game by more than two runs since the end of June with a 13-1 win over the Orioles. The offense exploded, Luis Gil looked like the Yankees' ace in place of him and Stephen Ridings came out throwing the way Dellin Betances used to. In addition to the Yankees' all-around performance, the Rays, Red Sox and A's all lost.After the recap, Eric Arditti of Barstool Sports joined me to talk about the state of the Orioles in another lost season for the team.

The Yankees had their worst loss of the season not even two weeks ago when they blew a two-run, ninth-inning lead at Fenway Park to open a four-game series. Well, now they have their most embarrassing loss of the season. The Yankees were essentially shut down by the worst starting pitcher in all of baseball, getting three-hit by the Orioles and going 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position in a 7-1 loss.

Anthony Rizzo led the Yankees to a much-needed sweep of the Marlins over the weekend, and while the Yankees were winning in Miami, the Rays were sweeping the Red Sox in St. Petersburg. The Yankees now trail the Rays by six games in the loss column for the division, the Red Sox by four games for the first wild card and the A’s by one game for the second wild card. The Yankees’ next 10 games against the Orioles, Mariners and Royals are a chance for them to potentially hold a playoff spot by the end of next week.

The Yankees are seven games back in the loss colum in the division, but with their new additions, there's a path to them winning the AL East. It won't be easy, and they will have to win about 43 of their remaining 61 games, but it can be done.After the recap, Frank Marco of Bronx Pinstripes joined me to talk about the trades for Joey Gallo and Anthony Rizzo, what it means for the rest of the season and how the Yankees will finish over the remaining two months.

The Yankees beat the Rays (something they have a hard time doing) at Tropicana Field on (something they rarely ever do). The Yankees followed their big win by salary dumping Justin Wilson on the Reds, but they needed to include Luis Cessa in the deal in order to do so.

The trade deadline is Friday and the Yankees' roster could be upgraded. With 64 games left, the Yankees have a chance to reset for the final two months of the season with a new manager leading the way. (I'm aware they won't make a change.)

The Yankees were one out away from winning their fifth straight game overall and their third straight game over the Red Sox and cutting their loss-column deficit in the division to five games. Then everything fell apart, resulting in the Yankees' worst loss of the season.

The Yankees nearly had their most recent worst loss of the season thanks to their own manager's bullpen management, but not even Aaron Boone's ineptitude can get in the way of the run the Makeshift Yankees are on.

The Yankees have won three straight games, and they have done so with a new-look lineup, forced on them by injury and protocol issues. Their new style of play has worked, and they have cut into their division and wild card deficits.

This is it for the Yankees: their last chance. The Yankees have pissed away every opportunity this season to meet expectations and now they are down to their last one with eight of their next 10 games against the Red Sox. Play badly in these 10 games, and their season will be over with still two months to play.Michael Hurley of CBS Boston joined me to talk about managerial changes since Red Sox fans have seen a lot of them over the last 10 years. The Red Sox have made five managerial changes and have had four managers since the start of the 2011 season. Meanwhile, Yankees fans have only had three managers since the start of the 1996 season. That could and should be four managers since the start of the 1996 season if things don’t change over the next 73 games.

Aaron Boone said, "The season is on the line," and that was before the Yankees lost two of three to the Angels. One more bad weekend or week between now and the All-Star break, and the season will no longer be on the line ... it will be over.

The Yankees played the Red Sox, so that means the Yankees lost. After scoring just three runs on Friday, the Yankees scored only two on Saturday, losing 4-2. The Yankees had a chance to go to Boston and have a big weekend to erase their deficit in the loss column, and instead, they have only let it grow.

The Yankees' inconsistent season continued in Boston on Friday with a 5-3 loss to the Red Sox. An all-right-handed lineup only scored three runs off Martin Perez, who is barely in the majors, Scumbag Domingo German and Luke Voit made errors, Gleyber Torres had another 0-for-4 and Phil Nevin got Gio Urshela thrown out at the plate with no outs. If you wanted to sum up the 2021 Yankees in a single game, Friday's series-opening loss would be the perfect example.

The Yankees have won seven of nine, have won three straight series and have gotten themselves within striking distance of first place in the AL East, something that seemed impossible less than two weeks ago. Now they have a chance to tie the Red Sox in the loss column in a weekend series that is the biggest of the season to date.
