 We constantly hear about all of the threats facing each one of us; global warming, overpopulation, coronavirus, terrorism - and we live in a world of fear. Our media, whose job was once to educate and inform, spends all of their time feeding the hyperbole, fostering fear and trying to place blame. Like the little boy who cried wolf; when do we take any of it seriously? Why do we allow ourselves to be placed into bondage by fear over things that we have no control over? The truth is that most of the issues we spend so much time worrying and stressing over will never even effect us, or they will be handled and dealt with. But there is a threat that none of us will escape and while some should not be afraid of it - others of us should be very fearful. What does it mean when we talk about having "order" in our worship services? Who gets to decide what is "order" and what might be "out of order"? Jesus warns us that others will know we are his disciples by the way we love each other. John warns over fifteen times in his first letter that if we claim to be a follower of Jesus and yet do not love our brother, we are a liar and the truth is not in us. The New Testament is clear that Christians have the capability and are commanded to love. In our study of 1st Corinthians, we find ourselves in Chapter 13, where the Apostle Paul warns the early church that this "love command" must start inside of the church and loving other Christians, then flow out to all other relationships we are involved in. But what does this type of love look like? How do we define it and practice it? Could what we have been calling "love" not be the type of love we are commanded to give? In the English language the word "love" can be used to describe a number of things and through its multiple uses it has become very subjective and difficult to define.
