The prophetic writings in the Bible are enormous, but aside from a few key passages, the value of this part of the Bible seems distant to many of us. On Sunday, I’m going to show you how this part of the Bible works, and then we are going to dive into a prophecy from Isaiah to see God’s truth in action.

As we conclude our series "Conversations with Jesus," we come to one of the most important discussions Jesus ever had with His disciples. This conversation was initiated by Jesus. It was controversial then, and it's controversial now. In it, we will find not only guidance for life, but life itself. Personally, coming to grips with what Jesus said changed the entire direction of my life.

THIS IS GOOD NEWS! That's the name of our new three-week series, and it's all about the Good News of Jesus!

Now that we have concluded our series in 1 Peter, I want to stand with you on the shore and listen in on a conversation between Jesus and Peter. It took place after Peter denied ever knowing Jesus, and it is one of the most moving stories in the Bible. If you have ever failed Jesus (who hasn't!?) you will be both encouraged and become more faithful as His disciple if you take its lesson to heart. You can read it in John 21.

If you're going through a tough time, this passage is vitally important. It will give you hope and tell you very specifically what to do while you wait for God's blessing.

Peter will tell us clearly HOW TO LIVE in these difficult days. Though the passage is familiar (I've preached it before) I was struck again with how countercultural Peter's inspired instructions are - even in many churches.

Reading 1 Peter again this week made me remember that she was quite right to do so. In 1 Peter 4, the apostle talks to us very directly about our attitude. What he says is simple and so timely that it could have been taken from today's breaking news. I hope you'll take time again to read the whole epistle of 1 Peter before Sunday. Focus on the first paragraph of chapter 4 in particular. Know someone who's a bit discouraged about the state of the world? Bring them with you! And if YOU are discouraged, make sure you don't miss it!
