Stories. We all remember the bed time stories we were told growing up. Stories such as The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks & The Three Bears, Humpty-Dumpty and the Boy Who Cried Wolf. Even though the stories were designed to let our imaginations run wild, imagining talking bears and carpenter pigs, they all had a point, a lesson to be learned. Jesus used stories called parables defined according to the dictionary as a short allegorical story designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious principle, or moral lesson. During the summer months at Great Oaks Community Church, Pastor Bill is going to unpack these parables and teach us how to apply them to our everyday lives.

In John 10, Jesus talks about the two kinds of people who protect sheep from predators, hired hands and owners. They may seem the same, but there is a distinct difference in how they act when a pack of wolves approaches. Hired hands take off running; owners will risk their lives to protect the sheep. Ownership matters in the vision business. People will do all sorts of things for a worthy vision, sometimes even die for it.
