He starts out in Transylvania but Teddy Roosevelt runs him out of town. Then it is off to NYC (?) but since Surfer is practically nude, all they want to do is throw him in jail. Maybe warning the planet about the invading force of invisible reptilian aliens will endear him to us. CenturyIt’s the RETURN of the [RANDOM] OFFICIAL HANDBOOK OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE segment as Shawn goes it solo to explain the history and general existence of an arbitrary Marvel Comics character (circa 1986).Join as Shawn earnestly stumbles his way through the tale of Turner D. Century, the anachronistic Spider-Woman villain who rode a flying bicycle and had a flamethrower umbrella. This dude was raised in a full-scale Madame Tussauds and went violently bonkers on San Francisco all because of a bit of debauchery (maybe a lot of debauchery — still not cool). Silver Surfer #1 (1968)So, ok, this is a REALLY GOOD comic book and not the worst of our collection BUT there is a lot to pick apart and make fun of because, my goodness, is Silver Surfer a dramatic boy! Join us as we talk about the Surfer’s first ongoing book where we learn about how extra he was as young Norrin Radd on Zenn-La. Dude was SO BORED on a planet full of peace and art and prosperity. He wanted to fly around and look under rocks that he shouldn’t just because HE didn’t earn it. Brother — take up knitting or something. Thank goodness for Galactus swinging by to eat their planet. We also got annoyed fish, battling Yetis, knowledge being beamed right into the skull and Shalla-Bal attempting to chokeslam herself out of grief. Secret Defenders #17 (1994)We wrap our short duology of Deadpool stories as we cover the conclusion of his team-up with Doctor Druid, Luke Cage, Shadowoman and the hip new hero Cadaver. The Secret crew seeks to stop the maniacal Malachi from whizzing all over the time-stream just to resurrect her ambivalent lover. All this at the cost of turning kindergarteners into early on-set Adam Sandlers and robbing Seattle of corn. It is up to Batman to get partially nude, sacrifice some innocent civilians and save his butler. Can he do it?
