Sinopsis

Join comic book fans Jen Stansfield-Marek and Shawn Marek every Thursday for WORST COLLECTION EVER. It's a comedy show where Jen and Shawn poke fun at their own collection of random comic books, most of which that they bought for a dollar or less. Most of the comics are not really worth anything monetarily but they have to justify their purchase somehow! Email the podcast and talk to the hosts at worstcollectionever@gmail.com!

Episodios

  • AQUAMAN Has A Lot of People In His Movie

    29/11/2018 Duración: 49min

This episode is a bit different from the rest because it features no comic book in peril. We’ve been hit with reality the past few weeks so this week, its just Jen and Shawn shooting the breeze about some comic book related madness including a tribute to Stan Lee.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Golden Age Wonder Woman

    16/11/2018 Duración: 01h19min

Sensation Comics #3 (1942)Don’t get fooled — we don’t own this actual comic. If we did, we’d have Dune Action Figure MOC money. This early yet epic installment of Wonder Woman’s history sees using her Amazonian brain to dominate the clerical industry only to get mistaken as a Nazi spy. Thankfully, WW clears her name by having Etta Candy kidnap and torture the real lady spy while Diana murders a bunch of Nazis with a ship anchor.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • The Vision

    08/11/2018 Duración: 01h09min

The Vision #3 (1995)Vision’s been losing his mind and if that isn’t enough, he’s got the personalities of Wonder Man and a dead cop running around in his head. In the best course of action, Crystal throws sand from Montauk Beach in his face. Anyway, Ultron’s a face in this story, possessed by the personality of Burgess Meredith in ROCKY.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Superman Kills Green Lantern

    02/11/2018 Duración: 58min

Action Comics #444 (1975)Happy All Saints Day! This week, we check in with Superman and as it turns out, he killed Green Lantern. Spoiler alert: not really. Green Lantern just kayfabed his death so that he can keep Sinestro from dressing him up like Leo DiCaprio as J. Edgar Hoover. Superman’s got other stuff to worry about, like his constant emission of Cinnaburst flavor crystals and Steve Lombard throwing shade at him from a convertible for being too damn boring.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Darkhold with WHAT THE HOPS

    26/10/2018 Duración: 01h25min

Darkhold: Pages From the Book of Sins #5 (1993)This episode is a Halloween crossover with the WHAT THE HOPS podcast hosted by former WCE guest Brian Marek. We drink a few beers, one of which is Freddie Mercury-themed. The comic book isn’t much as its DARKHOLD, one of the lesser known Midnight Sons. It’s basically Ghostbusters but they’re looking for loose leaf pages. Regardless, it does feature a cannibalistic priest and Punisher’s family coming back from the dead, only for Frank to be like “nah man.” Ghost Rider’s here too, embracing the concept of friendship.Check out the WHAT THE HOPS podcast: http://hoppedupnetwork.com/podcast/whatthehopsEmail the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Monster Menace

    18/10/2018 Duración: 01h13min

Monster Menace #1 (1993)Its yet ANOTHER anthology reprint gimmick book from Marvel because when else but Halloween times are we going to talk about this. This one comes with a special message from Stan Lee that we can’t be bothered to read.In this creepy collection: a sculptor’s Lou Ferrigno statue runs amok; Plutonians attempt to launder televisions to ax-wielding baby boomers; an intergalactic tyrant ventures into social media and we get a tropical retelling of Denzel Washington’s Flight.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Batman and the Monster Men

    11/10/2018 Duración: 01h13min

Batman and the Monster Men #5 (2006)This is allegedly the first time Batman and Hugo Strange square off as Strange farting around Gotham, creating a bunch of mutant Great Khalis. Gordon and Batman are getting to know each other (that’s sweet) and we see the debut of the Bat-Mobile.Also, we spend a bunch of time remembering GOTHAM on FOX even though we haven’t watched in a year. Did they ever figure out what the deal was with that dinosaur woman who was dating Thomas Wayne? Also, has Gordon been smartened up to the concept of “moshing?”Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Journey Into Mystery

    04/10/2018 Duración: 01h09min

Journey Into Mystery [vol 2] #12 (1974)Its October so we are going hardcore on spooky and monster-related books. To kick it off, we jump into JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY which has nothing to do with Thor and friends. This run was an anthology series that collected old Marvel and Atlas fantasy stories. In this particular issue, the writer of ZOMBIE ZOO falls victim to a vampiric Smurf; a genie grants a nihilistic child unlimited wishes; a Spencer’s Gifts gimmick sphere predicts George Costanza’s wife’s death; and a millionaire jokester terrorizes party guests with his Gremlins pneumatic chair. Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Eclipso featuring Thin Lizzy

    20/09/2018 Duración: 01h13min

Eclipso #6 (1993)Its about damn time we got back to some Eclipso. In this issue of his ongoing, Eclipso takes over the body of Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy and harasses the crap out of Bruce and Mona. The Creeper is there as well, only to make puns and get stabbed. Later, Eclipso tries to figure out some sort of convoluted poisoned cocaine scheme that will some how screw over Brazil or the US (?). Honestly, it shows he has no idea how to handle the yayo and has probably never seen SCARFACE.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Fallen Angels

    13/09/2018 Duración: 01h02min

Fallen Angels #5 (1987)FALLEN ANGELS is NOT a comic about all the wayward daughters that Brett Michaels sang about. It’s basically a Sunspot back door pilot where he putzes around with the techno alien Warlock in (I think) the Bowery, joining up the Vanisher and soon-to-be X-Force randoms Siryn and Boom Boom to commit petty crimes. Bobby’s not into it though so in this issue we just focus on Devil Dinosaur getting loose and some cyborg kid that looks like Peter Billingsley attempting to corral her cybernetic lobsters. Spoiler: one of the lobsters die, but not by being eaten.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Doom Patrol Classic

    06/09/2018 Duración: 01h14min

Doom Patrol #117 (1968)The Doom Patrol split up their group early on here because Niles is too preoccupied with women whilst Robotman lies around looking like Anakin Skywalker on Mustafar and Negative Man suffers from ham deprivation. The minute they all leave, Clint Howard in a purple chicken costume arrives to attack a crippled man with an army of violent hummingbirds. Treachery persists until Doom Patrol is bailed out by a bunch of West Coast Native Americans riding Fire Mares. You know, those horses from KRULL.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Spider-Man & the Sin-Eater

    30/08/2018 Duración: 01h11min

Spectacular Spider-Man #135 (1988)In one of his rare comic book appearances, the ever-affable Regis Philbin welcomes partially reformed serial killer Sin-Eater on his show, preceded by Mary Jane Watson modeling women’s fashion from the Gold Circle fall catalog. Peter Parker recovers from intense electrical burns enough to support his wife, only to get verbally embarrassed by a donut-fueled Electro. We also talk a lot about pizza in this episode.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Super Sons

    23/08/2018 Duración: 01h05s

World’s Finest Comics #233 (1975)As promised, we dig into a Super Sons book this week as Superman Jr. and Batman Jr. Jr. roll into a town of independent women only to get thrown in jail for trying to be groovy. Later, Superman Jr. Jr. Jr. carries Batman Jr. the IV in one hand over his head like a waiter in a restaurant (ass-to-palm) to battle an alien who hates mirrors. This story ends with Batman Jr. to the Fifth Power tongue-kissing an entire town of traumatized women. Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Breakfast with the X-Men

    16/08/2018 Duración: 50min

X-Men [vol 2] #31 (1994)Much like the Bluths, the X-Men Blue team believes that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Join us this week as Gambit cooks up some morning gruel just so he can taunt Rogue that he ate it all while wearing tiny shorts. Also, Archangel and Psylocke get themselves some cappuccino and crash a car. Even Beast gets in on the brunch action with some morning coffee whilst hanging from a titanium ceiling fan. There’s also this whole drama between Psylocke and the gal whose body she took over after the whole Siege Perilous business. It gets tragic AF.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Superman & the Metal Men

    09/08/2018 Duración: 53min

DC Comics Presents #70 (1984)Superman teams up with the Metal Men which is really strange because Superman hates robots. Thankfully, Clark is able to suppress his boiling hatred for machine men and team up with them to defeat a technologically gifted doomsday prepper. Also, Marc Maron shows up and attempts a heist in an air balloon.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Destro & Baroness

    02/08/2018 Duración: 01h10min

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #77 (1988)Yo Joe! The Joes have been ensnared in a government cover-up on Cobra Island as Fake Cobra Commander and Serpentor battle it out. Serpentor lost though so that means Dr. Mindbender can go full Krieger from ARCHER with his dead body. As for the Joes, they chill with some Vipers to watch a cat fight between Lady Jaye and Zarana. Meanwhile, Destro wears a Speedo on a boat in the Caribbean while Roadblock run from the Feds. And since its 1988 and we are in mad grinder mode, Zartan steps away from the action to open for classic self-titled era Danzig. Sadly, Chuck Biscuits was never inducted into the Dreadnoks (but should have been).Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Plastic Man & Metamorpho

    12/07/2018 Duración: 01h09min

The Brave and The Bold #123 (1975)We just had to go back to the Bob Haney well because this book is just too ridiculous for us to wait on. Bruce Wayne goes on vacation to Turkey so in his place is a freshly de-vagranted Plastic Man posting as Batman. Plas does a great job too, orchestrating a hostage rescue by having a cross-dressing policeman throw a grenade in a bank deposit box.Things take a turn when Bruce Wayne is charged with murder and Metamorpho poses as his lawyer. Plastic Man as Batman gets brainwashed by some lady into being a heel, only for the devilish woman to constantly try to poison his tea.Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield

  • Warlock & Friends (with guest Raven)

    05/07/2018 Duración: 53min

Warlock and the Infinity Watch #29 (1994)Not gonna lie…this is a slog of a book. The finish is given away on the cover and it takes the full twenty-two pages to tell something that really only should have taken four.Thankfully, we have a guest in professional wrestler / comedian / comic book writer RAVEN. He’s awesome and he’s here to help us decipher this Jim Starlin tale of Adam Warlock getting drunk after one sip of whine while a man with no nose watches. There’s also this She-Ra/Nick Fury chick that’s causing all the trouble while Gamora gets all cranky. If Jim Starlin wrote THREE’S COMPANY, it’d be this comic. Please rate, review, subscribe and tell a friend! Also, please check out Raven’s podcast THE RAVEN EFFECT over at Westwood One:https://apple.co/2IRBueY Follow Raven on Twitter:https://twitter.com/theraveneffectAnd please support former WWE/WCW superstar Perry Saturn on GoFundMe:https://www.gofundme.com/PerrySaturnaliaEmail the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Sha
