God is everywhere and He knows everything. Today Pastor Ben continues his Jonah series and shares how it was impossible for Jonah to run away from God. And when he tries, there are great consequences, not only for him, but for the people all around him. We’re probably familiar with the story, but have we, like Jonah, fallen asleep? Do we need to wake up to the things God is calling us to?

All throughout Scripture we read about times in history where God’s people united together in prayer and fasting. We believe that this is such a time in 2020, so we are calling the body of Christ to press into God through prayer fasting during the month of August. As we seek God together in this way we expect that He will speak to us and move powerfully in our hearts and homes (Hebrews 11:6). As we study chapter 4 today, we come full circle and realize that this book is not just about the repentance of the people who are preached to, but rather the prophet who does the preaching. Unlike any other prophetic book, we get a window into the soul of a person who is nothing like the God that he serves. As we will see today, Jonah was not merely running from the call of God, but he was running from the heart of God.

The gospel of Jesus is the extreme game changer. It brings deliverance from our past, transformation for our present, and hope for our future. And throw in God power and you’ve got the most amazing, compelling message anyone could possibly hear. Do you believe it? Do you really know it? That’s what Pastor Ben will be talking about today, the importance of knowing and understanding the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Are we willing to do what it takes so people can come to know Jesus? We live in a world that has seemingly normalized and legitimized being offended. The Bible is clear that we will offend each other because of sin, but it also clearly outlines how we are to deal with this both among Christians and those who are outside of the faith. However, what about our perceptions, expectations, and even interpretations of the conversations and situations that we are a part of?
